A plank is a good example of an isometric exercise, and how hard they can be when held for the correct length of time! 📈 Some of these include: 💪🏻 Increasing tendon strength 📉 Decreasing pain especially in patella tendon pain 💪🏻 Improving tendon stiffness - crucial for the efficient transfer of force from muscles to bones during movement. This circuit will cover the majority of the lower limb. I would aim for 1-3 sets of 15-30s. If I could add any SINGLE core exercise to everyone’s routine, this would be it! 🪲Dead bugs are an example of an isometric hold. The goal is to keep your core muscles stable and engaged while you move the rest of your body- a skill you need to get better at squats, deadlifts, bench/push-ups, pull-ups… you name it. The 🔑 to core work is to not rush your progress. Integrity with these movements is essential! In my classes and sessions I’ll often tell clients: “Slow is strong!” If your low back pops up during any portion of the movement, take time to reset your form and even reduce your range of motion so it doesn’t happen again. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or an advanced lifter- everyone can benefit from these! If your goal is to look good naked, any row where you are more supported would be a better option. For example, a chest supported seated row machine.

You’re training perspective, proportion, and confident edges. Level 2: Modify the box. Slice corners off. Cut planes away. Change the silhouette. Now the form becomes more interesting and more useful. Level 3: Use those boxes to construct a large fish turning through the water. Same foundation. Bigger result. That’s how drawing actually works. Complex subjects are usually just simple forms used intelligently. One student told me: “I used to think imagination was magic. Turns out it was boxes.” That’s the shift. You stop seeing a fish as impossible… and start seeing forms you already know how to use. If you want drawing from imagination to feel real, train the shapes everything is built from.
