5️⃣ Days until our Rise 360 // Strength + Climb classes go ⚡️LIVE⚡️ From now until Saturday, we’ll discuss the background and benefits of our new format 🤔 What is an isometric exercise? An isometric exercise refers to muscle contraction without joint movement. A couple of every day examples are pushing agains a wall, holding a plank, or wall-sits. We use the @isophit to optimize those isometric exercises to increase strength, balance, and functionality! @isophit has been shown to increase strength, improve peak force, power, acceleration, top speed, mobility, and aid in injury prevention. Isometric exercise involves contracting a muscle or group of muscles without any movement or change in length, and the joint remains stationary. It’s a type of strength training where you hold a static position while engaging the targeted muscles. Examples include wall sits, planks, and holding a squat. Static Contraction: In isometric exercises, muscles contract, creating tension, but the muscle’s length doesn’t change, and the joint doesn’t move. Benefits: Isometric exercises can help maintain or build strength, especially when movement is limited due to injury or certain medical conditions. They can also be effective in improving stability and balance. #fitness #isometric #holds #strength #fitness #workout #gym #athletes #lifting #training #workouts #isometrictraining

There’s a ton of examples of how to train hip extension. Above are three we find very helpful and are good examples of “surfing the force-velocity curve.” — The first exercise is an overcoming isometric. In performing this exercise, you push your glutes into the bar as hard as you can for the prescribed amount of time. In doing so, you’ll produce the most amount of force you can voluntarily produce. Thus, this is a great exercise to maintain strength levels without placing a bunch of load on your system. — The second exercise is a “rebound” or “shock” glute bridge. We’ve talked a lot about collisions lately and this is no different. The goal was to take advantage of the shock plyometric benefits laid out by Dr. Verkhoshansky and apply it to a specific muscle group. When you “catch” the barbell, there will be a sharp onset of tension and a lot of force produced to stop the load. The goal is that the force is sharp and large enough to engage the myotatic reflex and increase the force by which your muscles contract after a rapid stretch. — The third exercise is an example of a violent hip extension. The goal being to create a rapid stretch on the way down to take advantage of the stretch shortening cycle to aid you in your attempt to throw the ball as high as you can. There won’t be a lot of force produced here, as this would fall more on the “low force, high velocity” end of the force-velocity graph. — Recruit the glute. — #baseball #pitching #strengthandconditioning #glutes #velocity #sportscience #periodization #athlete #programming #performance #training #strength #power #pitchertraining #strengthtraining #stability #mobility #fitness #armcare #training #explosive

An isometric exercise is the exercise in which we focus on one muscle or group muscles by contracting them without movement. It depends mainly on body weight to support strength and to balance core Isometric exercise requires slow breathing in snd out while doing it. Examples for isometric exercises: plank and wall sit New research findings including a large one published by the British Journal of Sports Medicine, came to the conclusion that isometric exercises had a significant role in preventing or lowering blood pressure. #plank #plankchallenge #isometricworkout #isometric #isometricmagic #bloodpressurecontrol #bloodpressure #highbloodpressure #exerciseandbloodpressure #exerciseandhealth

MECHANICAL DISADVANTAGE PAUSE Mechanical disadvantage pause is the implementation of a 2-4 second isometric contraction at the point of greatest mechanical disadvantage for the exercise. Examples of this would be in the bottom of the range of motion for the squat, bench press etc. All of these exercises have an ascending strength curve, the bottom range of motion is the point of greatest mechanical disadvantage, then as the concentric occurs mechanical advantage increases throughout the full range of motion. Completing an isometric in this lengthened position will cause some dissipation of elastic energy from the elastic components of the working musculature. The duration of pause will then dictate the degree of elastic energy lost: ⏱ 1 Second Pause will lead to about 25% lost ⏱ 2 Second Pause will lead to about 50% lost ⏱ 3 Second Pause will lead to about 75% lost ⏱ 4 Second Pause will lead to nearly 100% lost Completing isometric contractions in this disadvantageous position will force increased recruitment of motor units to complete the concentric action. It will also improve the firing rate and synchronization of these motor units and the intra-muscular coordination within the working musculature. This method has applications when training for both hypertrophy and strength adaptations. We recommend implementing a 2 second isometric for the first exposure with a trainee and progressing to a 4 second isometric as they advance. We have found the best results if the total duration of the set is kept under 40 seconds, beyond this point the load utilized will be too low to elicit the adaptations we are striving for. #squat #tempo #strong #strengthtraining

Learn and lift !! 💪 ✅Isometric Exercises An isometric exercise is any strength-training movement where your muscle length and the angle of your joints do NOT change. Examples include the plank and the side bridge, and bar hang. All three involve simply holding a key position with little to no movement ✅Eccentric Exercises An eccentric contraction is also known as a lengthening contraction. This kicks in when your muscles are elongated. ✅Concentric Exercises Think of a concentric exercise simply as the opposite of an eccentric movement. In a bicep curl, it’s the portion of the workout where you’re raising the dumbbell up towards you. #gymmotivation #explorepage #explore #instagram #trending #reels #reelsinstagram #music #reelitfeelit #bodybuilding #morning #positivevibes #nutrition #live #health #healthylifestyle

INTRA-REP PAUSE • A good first introduction to isometric contractions is Intra-Rep Pauses. This is an isometric contraction taken at a predetermined point during the concentric action. It is used to accentuate the point of greatest overload within an exercise. Three examples of how this could be implemented within biceps training are shown below, this is assuming the use of dumbbells or barbells: Tempo: 3-0-1-2 or 3-0-1-4 1) Scott Curl - Isometric would be performed in the bottom third when the forearms are parallel with the ground. 2) Seated Curl - Isometric would be performed in the mid range when the forearms are parallel with the ground. 3). Spider Curl - Isometric would be performed in the top third when the forearms are parallel with the ground. Performing a 2-4 second isometric in the predetermined position during the concentric action will increase intra-muscular tension and motor unit recruitment. This can be used as both a hypertrophy and strength stimulus. When implementing the intra-rep pause method we generally recommend 40-70 seconds of time under tension for the set. This is an introductory isometric method and the longer time under tension will make the isometric contraction less intensive.

what is a tempo? just another way to progressive overload! what does that look like? you can add tempo to any part of an exercise by slowing down or holding a position. here are two examples of reps with an isometric hold added! Pistol - :03 hold at the bottom of a rep Pull Up - :05 hold at the top of a rep why do it? Adding tempo to an exercise means more time under tension - aka the muscle is working for a longer amount of time - which promotes muscle growth (it’s also a great way to work on technique) try it out by working some tempo into a few of your exercises next time you train to feel the difference!
