I hate doing stairs bc I can't look down with ease. I have to lean forward from my hips to see the stairs. I go up & down facing sideways because I can't lift my left leg up and put weight through it. I have to move my whole body forward/backward in a swaying motion to get up. Idk why it helps. I have a ton of low back pain & issues w/ my L leg. Continuing to hold onto hope for improvement. 2 big doctor appts this week 😬🙏 #ehlersdanlossyndrome #ehlersdanlos #spine #spinalfusion #Meganking

Part 1 of My Story: How Did You Injure Your Spine? I've endured 22 surgeries on my shoulder joints & shoulder blades. 19 of those surgeries I was immobilized with bracing that sat on the back of my neck/upper back. I was braced anywhere from 6 weeks to 4 months. Imagine having that weight on the same spot of your neck/upper back over & over. Between the repetitive weight plus a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome my neck became severely damaged. I did not damage my spine during my original injury at 16. I also didn't damage it in a car accident, traditional scoliosis, or anything fun. It truly is from holding 19 shoulder/shoulder blade recoveries on my neck plus EDS. Stay tuned for the rest of the story 🫶 #ehlersdanlossyndrome #ehlersdanlos #spine #Meganking #lifechanging

This is part four of how different types of EDS present in the body! This video is on the joints, one of the main things people think of when they hear “Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome”. This video is not meant for self-diagnosis, just for educational purposes! These symptoms may be present in types of EDS not listed. The ones I put in here are either from the EDS Society’s website or from research studies. Also, these symptoms may be present in other conditions not related to EDS, or may be common, benign findings. #raredisease #ehlersdanlossyndrome #classicallikeehlersdanlossyndrome #hypermobileehlersdanlossyndrome #hypermobility

Welcome to part 6 of my series where I show how different types of Ehlers-Danlos Sydnrome present in each body system. I’ve had a couple people request this one, so I thought I’d go ahead and do it! Today’s video is on the eyes. There’s quite a lot of different eye complications that happen with EDS, so stick around to see them all. As always, this is for educational purposes only. This is not meant for self-diagnosis. Additionally, these features can show up in types of EDS not listed. The ones I listed are from studies or from th @ehlers.danlos website. There’s a lot of overlap between the types! #raredisease #ehlersdanlossyndrome #classicallikeehlersdanlossyndrome #hypermobileehlersdanlossyndrome #hypermobility

This Was Ist time When I Faced Case Like This ..... Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) presents a unique challenge for physiotherapy because the primary issue is a structural defect in collagen. This leads to joint hypermobility, tissue fragility, and chronic pain. Note..Management is less about "stretching" (which can be harmful) and more about joint protection, proprioception, and stabilization. What Not To Do... .Avoid Overstretching: High-intensity stretching can lead to subluxations or dislocations. .Low-Impact Loading: Minimize sheer forces on joints. .Proprioceptive Training: People with EDS often have a poor sense of where their joints are in space, leading to clumsy movements and injury. For more Details about Case .... Send me this reel in DM ..... #phsiotherapy #ehlersdanlos #pateint #exercise

Welcome to my new series “Living with Spinal Fusion: A Glimpse Through My Eyes” • I live with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome ( #EDS ), which in my case lead to extreme life threatening spinal instability necessitating a surgical spinal fusion from skull to sacrum that is anchored to my pelvis, a fusion of my right SI Joint, and fusion of my tib/fib to save my life • This is a video to show what my range of motion is through my spine 3+ years after the last of over a dozen spinal fusion surgeries, and what that truly looks like from my perspective. • Obviously, I can only show the perspective of ONE person, as every individual’s experience will differ. Not everyone who has a fusion surgery will completely lose their ability to bend. The spine is very good at compensating and redistributing movement when it is lost. Unfortunately, because I am FULLY fused, I have run out of levels to compensate. Someone who is undergoing a Skull- C2 fusion for example may notice almost no change to their ROM once fully recovered. It really depends on the levels of fusion! • *But be careful! This is the same reason that some people may need repeat surgeries or experience new problems post op. The motion WILL go somewhere, and if your spine is already unstable elsewhere, or you know you are hypermobile, you NEED to proceed with caution! I always recommend making sure you have a good PT on board pre/post surgery to try to keep this domino effect from happening.❤️* • This series has been years in the making! Its purpose is to show the day to day life of someone living, and doing everyday tasks, in a fused body from a first person perspective, and maybe to introduce some tips and tricks to help others maneuver through life and feel less alone. • Maybe you are fused like me, thinking of undergoing fusion, or or a medical professional who works with fusion patients. Maybe you have a loved one with fusion, or maybe you are just curious! 🤷🏻‍♀️ WELCOME! • Thank you for coming on this journey with me! Make sure to leave comments with suggestions of what you want to see and send these to someone who it may help. 💕 • #ehlersdanlossyndrome #spinalfusion #disabled #spinalfusionsurgery

When someone has hypermobility, the conversation doesn’t stop there. One of the key things physicians screen for is vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. vEDS is a rare but important subtype that can be linked to aneurysm rupture or sudden cardiac death. That’s why family history questions are so important.
