Most managers were promoted for performance. Not trained in leadership. There’s a difference. Here are 7 signs you’re reporting to someone who was never actually taught how to lead: 1️⃣ They confuse urgency with importance. Everything is “ASAP.” Nothing is prioritized. 2️⃣ The strategy changes every Monday. But somehow you’re “not aligned.” 3️⃣ They correct you publicly. Then call it “clarity.” 4️⃣ Feedback only shows up when something goes wrong. Coaching never does. 5️⃣ They wait until performance review season to mention something that’s been “an issue for months.” 6️⃣ They avoid hard conversations with underperformers… and quietly overwork the high performers instead. 7️⃣ They manage tasks. They don’t develop people. A title doesn’t make someone a leader. Training does. Self-awareness does. Accountability does. If this felt a little too familiar — save it.

An often overlooked dynamic in toxic workplaces is the clash between high performers and ineffective managers. There is often a friction that builds between the two. The high performer is focused on outcomes. Taking inefficiencies and providing improvements. The ineffective manager is focused on control. They avoid risks, see questioning as pushback and are working overtime to cover for their own incompetence in the office. This often leads to an extremely toxic work situation for the high performers. This is truly what happens when competence meets insecurity. So if this is you, remember that a workplace and manager shouldn’t be making you feel like you need to shrink to survive and be effective! . . . . . #corporatelife #highperformer #corporateculture #effectiveleadership #corporate

the millennial managers leadership shift in corporate… We learned from the generation before us, we were handed hustle culture, work harder, stay late, and told hard work = success. HA! And we believed it, because it worked for them… We gave everything… our time, our energy, our mental space… did everything we were told..thinking it would all add up to something secure. And then after many “once in a life time events” … everything changed… what used to work, no longer applies. and now WE ARE the managers. And we’re looking at our teams and thinking… they’re not going to go through what we went through. Not if I can help it. So we absorb it, we block it.. The pressure from above… we take it on. The unrealistic expectations… we shield our teams from it. The silence around mental health… we break it, even when it’s uncomfortable. The “just push through” culture… we quietly rewrite it. And the truth is… it’s heavy. Because all that weight is on top of our shoulders as we block it..while trying to lead in a completely different way. We know we were sold something that didn’t hold up. And instead of passing that down… we’re choosing to hold the weight so someone else doesn’t have to. That kind of leadership doesn’t get recognized enough. It’s lonely sometimes. It’s exhausting. But it’s also one of the most selfless and intentional shifts happening inside corporate right now. And if you’re in it… I see you. I know how much you’re holding. And I’m really, really proud of you. I hope the song choice hits the way it’s supposed to for my fellow millennials 🤣 Is anyone else feeling this? Tell me I’m not alone in this 👇🏽 💌 Send this to a millennial manager who’s carrying more than people realize 📲 Follow along as I share tips, tricks, the good, bad & the ugly of corporate America

One question that catches so many people out in interviews is this. “You’ve only been in your current role for 6 months. Why are you leaving?” And this is where people panic and start explaining everything. Talking about bad managers. Low pay. Or how the company was toxic. But strong hiring managers are not interested in workplace drama. They care about how you think. The key is to position it as progression not escape. Instead of focusing on what you are leaving, focus on what you are moving towards. Show that you explored your options internally, realised where you want to take your career long term, and that this opportunity aligns better with your strengths and growth. Keep it calm. Keep it intentional. Keep it future focused. That is how professionals move in interviews. I broke into tech sales with zero experience and have now helped 100+ women do the same and land high paying remote roles. If you want the exact step by step training, comment TECH and I will send it to you. #interviewtips #careeradvice #techsales #jobsearch #interviewquestions

Giving a two-week notice at work is a simple but powerful way to protect your reputation and future opportunities. It shows professionalism, respect, and reliability—qualities that managers and coworkers remember long after you leave. By giving notice, you allow your employer time to find a replacement or transition your responsibilities, which helps maintain good relationships and keeps the door open for references or even returning in the future. Even if you’re eager to move on, leaving the right way demonstrates maturity and integrity, and in the long run, your reputation can be just as valuable as any paycheck. #quitting #bluecollar #workmemes #construction #bluecollarlife
