One of the biggest advantages of having access to better data is that it allows us to make more informed decisions when it comes to training and development. Technology does not replace coaching, but it can give us valuable insights that help guide the process. Tools like this allow us to track outputs, monitor changes over time, and better understand how athletes are responding to training. That information helps us refine programming, manage training loads more effectively, and ensure athletes are progressing in the right direction. It is also a valuable tool when athletes are returning from injury. Having objective data helps us evaluate readiness, monitor progress through the return to play process, and make better decisions about when athletes are prepared to safely get back on the field. Why Max Velocity Exposure is so Important for GAA Athletes? Accelerations Dominate the early stage of a sprint, but maximal sprint speed exposure plays a different role. When an Athlete reaches Near Maximal Velocity, hamstring length and force demands increase significantly. Consistent exposure to these speeds improves neuromuscular coordination admins reduces soft tissue injury risks overtime. Research has consistently showed us that regular exposure to maximal sprint speed is protective, especially in field sports. From a performance standpoint increasing maximal sprint speed also raise your acceleration ceiling. Because if your top speed increases your sub-maximal speed improves too. That’s why even during the Pre-Season at least 1 weekly max velocity exposure should be included in your training week. This is done to ensure speed does not drop off as it can see a decline in as little as 5 days.
