Do you have high cortisol? Here are 6 signs your body is trying to tell you that you’re too stressed. Chronic stress is actually one of the root causes of PCOS and I used to struggle with it too. It drove a lot of my PCOS problems especially while I was trying to lose weight!! Now, I’m down 30 lbs and I couldn’t have done it without regulating my body’s natural cortisol rhythm. Cortisol is supposed to be on a 24 hour cycle!! It should be highest in the morning when you wake up, with little spikes throughout the day as you encounter stressors and then it should tapper off at night for you to relax and go to bed. If you didn’t feel safe growing up 🙋🏻‍♀️ or you experienced trauma as a child this leaves a lasting imprint on your nervous system. Think of your nervous system as the electrical wiring in your body. When you’ve experienced trauma (such a sliding scale)… there’s a good chance there’s some issues with the way your wiring works. Outside of your typical PCOS symptoms this might look like: ✔️Overthinking ✔️Anxiety ✔️Insomnia ✔️Triggered easily ✔️Startling easily ✔️Shutting down Among many other things! In PCOS problems with your electrical wiring can mean you get stuck in a state of stress, this can mean your adrenal glands make too much androgen hormone (DHEA-S), and/or it can cause issues with the way your brain communicates with your ovaries. If you’re not taking Myo-inositol for PCOS , then you need to start now. This isn’t a fad or a short term fix. Myo-inositol helps to develop follicles on the ovaries, support normal ovulatory cycles and improve insulin signalling. This means pcos problems get improved. It is thought that women with pcos have lower levels of inositol. You can get inositol in foods such as fruits and beans but supplementation is necessary .
