Most cars use piston engines, where cylinders and pistons move up and down to convert fuel explosions into rotational motion. That movement is transferred through a crankshaft to drive the wheels. A rotary engine achieves the same goal in a completely different way. Instead of pistons, it uses a triangular rotor that spins inside an oval-shaped housing. As the rotor turns, it creates combustion chambers that expand and contract, producing smooth rotational power with far fewer moving parts. This design allows rotary engines to be compact, lightweight, and capable of very high RPMs. However, they tend to sacrifice fuel efficiency, emissions control, and long-term durability compared to traditional piston engines.
