Understanding Brain Development 💛 “Two critical periods of brain development, 0 to 3 and adolescence, which is 9 to 25.” Erica Komisar highlights the importance of these periods in shaping our brain’s development and function. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for emotional regulation and decision-making, isn’t fully developed until 25, making it crucial to prioritize support and guidance during these formative years. ▫️The Power of Support Recognizing the brain’s developmental timeline can help us approach adolescence with empathy and understanding. By acknowledging the challenges of this period, we can provide the necessary support and resources to help young people navigate emotional regulation, stress, and adversity. ▫️Nurturing Emotional Intelligence By prioritizing emotional intelligence and support during these critical periods, we can empower young people to develop healthy coping mechanisms, build resilience, and thrive. Let’s focus on nurturing their growth and development. 🔸Join the Conversation! The anterior midcingulate cortex (aMCC) is a brain region associated with willpower, tenacity, and the capacity to overcome challenges. Research indicates that engaging in tasks perceived as difficult or undesirable can lead to the growth of the aMCC, thereby enhancing an individual’s resilience and determination. 🧠 💪 Via @hubermanlab

Your prefrontal cortex be like: Fun fact: some people’s prefrontal cortex never develops. And it shows. . . #animationart #animationmeme #animation #real #prefrontalcortex

Complaining isn’t harmless… neuroscience proves it’s destroying your brain. Here’s how ⬇️ 1. Strengthens the wrong neural pathways. 2. Floods your body with stress hormones. 3. Trains your brain to notice more problems. 4. Shuts down your decision-making center. 5. Shrinks your hippocampus (memory + resilience). 6. Makes your default mode network stuck in suffering. Stop complaining → protect your brain → rewire for growth. Esse processo de tratamento de informações é mágico” 🤩🤩🤩 🌀🌀🌀 Video showing the speed and path of visual information processing. All information has to be “digested” by the nervous system. It enters as a pure physical or chemical impulse, is transformed into electrochemical frequency language, is read and authorized (transduced) by some retransmission centers, reaches the primary cortex where it is discriminated, is transferred to the secondary cortex where it begins to be signified, named and categorized, and from there to the tertiary cortex where it is understood and elaborated for a contextualized conscious action. This information processing process is magical. 🤩🤩🤩 Texto: Sonia Padovan Vídeo: @biologyscienc

The ability to push through challenges, stay disciplined, and persevere in the face of obstacles isn’t just a mindset—it’s wired into the brain. The anterior midcingulate cortex (aMCC), a region linked to willpower and tenacity, strengthens when we engage in difficult or uncomfortable tasks. Every time we choose effort over avoidance, discipline over comfort, we reinforce neural pathways that make us more resilient. Struggle isn’t just something to endure—it’s the mechanism through which mental toughness is built. The more we lean into challenges, the stronger our capacity to overcome them becomes. The human brain is made of interconnected regions that work together to control movement, memory, thought, and emotion. This exploded view reveals how the brain is organized into distinct structures. Each region has its own role, but none works alone. The brain functions through networks and constant communication. Seeing the brain this way helps us appreciate the complexity behind every decision and every movement. Credit: @sciepro.official #medicine #anatomy #brain #neurology #neuroscience

Your brain is not fixed. ✨ Through neuroplasticity, your brain is constantly reshaping itself—creating new connections, pruning old ones, and rewiring based on what you practice and repeat. This means the patterns you feel stuck in—anxiety, overthinking, stress responses—are not permanent. With the right tools, you can literally teach your brain and nervous system a new way of being. 🌿 That’s what our Nervous System Reset is designed for: • Somatic tools to calm overactive stress pathways 🫁 • Daily practices that strengthen your regulation circuits • Rewiring exercises that shift you out of survival mode and into safety Your biggest transformation begins when you stop waiting for change and start training your brain to feel safe, steady, and free. 💌 DM “reset” to begin your journey. #desitherapyy #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #emotionalwellness #therapy #growthmindset #healingjourney #emotionalhealing #healingjourney #personalgrowth #personalgrowth #emotionalintelligence

This is How You Know if Your Frontal Lobe is Developed #brain. The frontal lobe, a key region of the brain located at the front of the cerebral cortex, plays a critical role in numerous cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functions essential for human behavior and decision-making. Its intricate network of neural circuits and connections enables a wide range of complex mental processes, including: Executive Functions: Perhaps the most well-known function of the frontal lobe, executive functions encompass a set of higher-order cognitive abilities that facilitate goal-directed behavior, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making. This includes tasks such as reasoning, abstract thinking, working memory, and cognitive flexibility. Motor Function: The primary motor cortex, located within the frontal lobe, is responsible for the initiation and control of voluntary movements throughout the body. This region coordinates motor commands and fine-tunes movement patterns, allowing for precise and coordinated actions. Speech Production: Broca’s area, located in the left hemisphere of the frontal lobe, plays a crucial role in the production of speech and language. Damage to this area can result in expressive aphasia, characterized by difficulties in articulating words and forming coherent sentences. Personality and Social Behavior: The frontal lobe is involved in regulating personality traits, emotions, and social behavior. It helps individuals inhibit impulsive actions, control emotional responses, and regulate social interactions. Damage to certain areas of the frontal lobe can lead to alterations in personality, emotional instability, and impaired social judgment. #psychology #psychologyfacts

Day 16: BEING DELIBERATE BY ENGAGING YOUR PREFRONTAL CORTEX _ Observe a puppy, young child, (and some adults) and you’ll notice that everything in their environment can impact their behavior. Top-down control is when we engage our prefrontal cortex and are #deliberate about our responses- including our thoughts, to events impinging on our senses. _ The more stressed or tired we are, the harder it is to engage our prefrontal cortex and top-down control. Nonetheless, those circuits can be improved gradually through the process of neural plasticity. There’s nothing mysterious about it, it just takes repetition (and rest). _ Perhaps ask: how much of your waking day are you reflexive? (Reflexes are great because they are low energy cost. But they can also be problematic. Perhaps also ask therefore: Where can I bring more attention and deliberate action or thought to something that I would otherwise be reflexive about? If you do that, you’re engaging top-down prefrontal cortex control. _ @hubermanlab @stanford @stanford.med @nihgov @nimhgov @societyforneuroscience @madefor _ #science #neuroscience #action #focus #neuroplasticity #move #motivation #act #ciencia #think #prefrontalcortex #dopamine #100daysofneuroscience #human
