Here’s everything you need to know about PROCESSED MEATS..⬇️ They have been linked to an increased risk of stomach and colorectal cancer and they’ve also been classified as a Group 1 human carcinogen, which is any substance known to cause cancer. Processed meats are meats that have been preserved by smoking or salting, curing or adding chemical preservatives. They include: Bacon Hot Dogs Deli Meats  Ham Pepperoni Beef Jerky Sausage Salami So why is preserving meat dangerous to our health? Because, when processed meats are preserved, cancer-causing substances form. For example, when processed meats are cooked at high temps (grilling/frying/smoking), it can produce carcinogenic compounds including PAHS and HAAs. So, with that being said, Is it safe to eat “NITRATE FREE” processed meats?  Well, the answer is.. Unfortunately, NO. The food industry has gotten VERY clever with how they market these processed meats. But that’s just it- it’s MARKETING. They will put labels on the packages of deli meats, bacon, or charcuterie meats such as “nitrate free”, “uncured meats”, or “no nitrates added”.  But, that doesn’t mean they are safe to eat. Because, “nitrate free” or “uncured meats” can still form small amounts of cancer causing substances in your body. And they are still preserved on some level- most likely with celery juice. But, unfortunately, the source of preservation doesn’t matter. So, it’s very important to read the labels on the meats you are consuming to ensure they aren’t processed or preserved. Most people think they're buying real meat. They're not always. The food industry has spent years perfecting the language they use on packaging. Not to inform you. To keep you from asking questions. Lab grown meat sounds alarming. Cell cultured meat sounds almost scientific and clean. Cultivated meat sounds like it came from a farm. It didn't. It came from a laboratory. And the biggest retailers in the country are under no obligation to make that obvious to you. They are only required to include it somewhere on the label. In fine print. In language most people don't know to look for. I've spent 30 years studying what goes into the human body and what happens as a result. And the most dangerous ingredients have never been the ones with scary names. They've always been the ones hiding behind words that sound harmless. Cell cultured. Cultivated. Cell based. These are the phrases you need to know. If you see any of them on a meat label put it back. Yes, US legislators have already made it legal, and the USDA has already approved labels like "cell-cultivated chicken" and "cell-cultivated beef." This is their way of making lab-grown meat sound acceptable. But let's be clear: this is not real meat. This is meat grown in a bioreactor from animal cells and processed in a lab. It has never been part of a living, breathing animal. So the next time you're at the grocery store, read the labels carefully.
