QUThis is How they do it: Scientists created a supersolid by cooling atoms to near absolute zero, forming a Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC). They trapped the atoms in an optical cavity with lasers, causing light to bounce between mirrors and interact with the atoms. This forced the atoms into a solid-like structure while still allowing them to flow freely — creating a state that's both solid and fluid at the same time.

For the first time, researchers have created a peculiar solid that can flow like a liquid-using light. This breakthrough could provide deeper insights into exotic quantum states of matter. We actually turned light into a solid, which is pretty amazing" says Dimitris Trypogeorgos from the National Research Council (CNR) in Italy. This experiment was made possible by an advanced camera that allows for the visualization of the wave function of two entangled photons in seconds and minutes rather than hours and days. In a digital interferogram, an interference pattern, this obvious yinyang image was created by INTENTIONALLY utilizing a filter of their data.
With the scientific revolution, science disregarded the observational wisdom that ancient indigenous traditions carried. In favor of a quantitative approach, what could not be seen under a microscope was set aside.
