• ❌THIS IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY❌ • • Do you know that rabbits have voices? Each voice has a different meaning!! • Screaming or loud squealing This indicates great alarm or extreme pain. It sounds exactly like a small child's scream. Some rabbits will never scream, but many will do so at least once in a lifetime. If your rabbit screams, offer immediate comfort and stay close for a few hours. • This bunny was not hurt in anyway, and was comforted right away as you can see in my next reel. This video is purely for educational purposes. • NO BUNNIES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO • • • • • #rushdenbunnies #bunny #rabbit #bunnylove #rabbitsofinstagram #bunniesofinstagram #cute #bunnies #rabbits #love #pet #bunnyrabbit #petsofinstagram #rushden #bunnylife #instabunny #bunnylover #rabbitstagram #rabbitlove #pets #cutebunny #bunnygram #rushden #bunnystagram #rabbitlife #netherlanddwarf #netherlanddwarfrabbit #northamptonshire #buckinghamshire #bedfordshire 🧿

People ask me all the time why I don’t just let rabbits be rabbits, why I push them to grow, and how I can train an animal that’s been traumatized. They say it’s cruel, that I should leave them alone. But here’s the truth: the only way out of fear, anxiety, and a deregulated nervous system is through healing—slowly, steadily, and with purpose. To those who call me an animal abuser or a disgrace to the rabbit world, I’ve heard it all. But I believe the real cruelty lies in neglecting to train and guide them. Leaving a rabbit in constant fear, unable to understand the world around them, is what leads to suffering. Without socialization, they risk becoming isolated, agoraphobic, and mentally unwell as the years pass. Training is the answer. Socialization is the key. And I’m here to show you how to help these animals live fearlessly.

1) Your bunny isn’t “bad.” They’re under-stimulated. Chewing baseboards, digging your couch, “random” aggression—most of the time it’s boredom + unmet instincts. Fix: daily enrichment rotation (forage + chew + dig) and a consistent routine. 2) Picking up ≠ bonding. A lot of bunnies tolerate being held… but tolerance isn’t trust. If they freeze, scramble, or avoid you after, that’s communication. Fix: bond on the floor first, teach handling in tiny steps, and only lift when necessary—supported chest + hips, close to your body. 3) Most people feed way too many treats and wonder why poops get weird. Fruit-heavy snacks and sugary vegetables can cause soft stool, picky eating, and gut drama. Fix: hay is the main character, measured pellets, greens in moderation, treats as training—tiny, not constant. #bunnyinstagram #bunnybreeder #hollandlops #bunny #bunnylife

With it being rabbit awareness week here are 5 things I don’t agree with when it comes to rabbits 🐰 ❌Keeping rabbits in a small hutch/ cage❌ Hutches were originally used to house rabbits when being used as a meat source, so why are we still housing rabbits in tiny cages? Whether they’re indoors or outdoors they need lots of space 24/7. ❌Having a lone rabbit❌ Rabbits are very social creatures and thrive with companionship from another bunny friend. Having a friend reduces stress, boredom and loneliness. In some cases rabbits don’t always get along and may need to live as a single rabbit. ❌Schools that have rabbits as class pets❌ There are SO many reasons why this is wrong. Rabbits are prey animals so a noisy, busy school environment is not ideal for them. Who takes care of them on weekends/ school holidays? Who takes the rabbits to the vets and pays for their medical costs? ❌Using a harness/leash on your rabbit❌ Rabbits don’t need to go out for walks like a dog. As mentioned before they’re prey animals who can be startled very easily. ❌Pet shops selling rabbits❌ Those cute little rabbits you see in @petsathomeuk come from commercial breeders that prioritize profit over animal welfare. Rabbits are often kept in inadequate conditions with limited space, social interaction, and mental stimulation, leading to stress and poor health. The high turnover of rabbits in pet shops can also result in neglected care leading to rescue centres having to pick up the pieces. #adoptdontshop #bunniesofinstagram #rabbitsofinstagram #rabbitlove #rabbitcare #bunnylover #petlovers #rabbitwelfare

Think your bunny is just cute? Think again! Rabbits are surprisingly smart pets with amazing problem-solving skills. Some can figure out how to escape playpens, navigate obstacle courses, or find hidden treats all on their own. They recognize their favorite humans, respond to their names, and remember daily routines. Their spatial awareness is incredible.. they can find their favourite hiding spots even after days. I remember after I brought Chester home from being hospitalized for 8 days, he still remembered the sound of the pantry door and came running - even though he wasn't feeling well. It was just out of habit. Rabbits also have emotional intelligence, they can tell when you’re stressed or calm and adjust their behavior accordingly. When the house is calm, Chester is often napping close by to me. When we're getting ready to leave the house, he starts pacing around the house. So next time you see your bunny, remember that there’s a little genius brain under all that cuteness 😍

While Binkies and Zoomies are often seen as signs of joy, I don’t encourage them—especially not as goals in training. They’re not what most people think they are. In rabbits, these behaviors show a spike in arousal, not regulation. And in prey animals, arousal is rarely cleanly “happy” or “playful.” It’s often a nervous system firing off—sometimes from excitement, yes, but just as often from stress, overstimulation, or a desperate release after being confined or handled too much. People like to project celebration onto these moments, but what they’re really seeing is a rabbit offloading nervous system tension. It’s not grounded. It’s not safe. It’s not regulated. At the end of this video, I include a clip where this same bunny—same day, same time—is visibly recoiling from my touch. This isn’t a happy, joyous occasion for this bunny. It’s a physical sign of dysregulation and fear. He’s been restrained multiple times that day, is in a new environment, and has had no time to decompress. This isn’t trust—it’s trauma. What people interpret as “happy Zoomies” or “silly Binkies” are often dysregulated discharges—like a kid so overstimulated on Christmas morning they rip everything open and melt down five minutes later. It looks like joy, but the nervous system is in chaos. Regulation doesn’t look like chaos. It looks like choice. And rabbits rarely choose those behaviors unless they’re escaping something or reacting to stress. Rabbits are prey animals with nervous systems that mirror complex trauma responses: exaggerated startle reflexes, disordered attachment, hypervigilance, and rapid shifts between freeze and flight. That’s why I train differently. I offer them peace—schedules, consistency, gentle repetition, and safety. I don’t reward their panic. I don’t confuse reactivity with readiness. I wait until their body is calm, their breathing is slow, their posture is soft—and then I meet them. Because I don’t want a bunny that performs. I want a bunny that feels safe enough to choose connection.
