Day 254/365 of sharing my teaching practices Topic : Introducing Reflection and Refraction in ray optics . a green laser through a cylindrical cold drink bottle (filled with water + few drops of Dettol for scattering) and incense smoke on top shows the hidden path of light 🌫️ ( In single medium → light travels in straight line ) ( At boundary → two things happen together )  { Reflection → part of light bounces back }  { Refraction → part of light bends and enters new medium } And the most magical part → you can actually see both at once. It’s all about light and refraction! Both Pyrex glass and vegetable oil have a similar refractive index of around 1.47. This means they bend light in almost the same way. When immersed in vegetable oil, the glass and oil effectively "match," making the glass less visible because light doesn’t change direction as it passes through. It’s a cool optical illusion caused by the way light interacts with materials. Video - 1manlab This content is shared strictly for educational purposes. DM us for credit/removal. Laser Reflection Maze! | Mind-Bending Light Effect with MirrorsExperience a mind-bending light effect with mirrors in this Laser Reflection Maze! Watch as the laser beam creates incredible visual patterns and reflections in this science shorts video. This DIY science experiment is simple, safe, and seriously cool! 🧪 What I used: • Tiny mirrors • A laser pointer • Creative angles • Cardboard base ⚠️ Caution: Laser lights can be harmful—never point at eyes. #LaserMaze #MirrorReflection #LightExperiment #DIYScience #CoolPhysics #laserart

n₁ sinθ₁ = n₂ sinθ₂ A simple equation… but it decides something powerful: Will light pass through, or will it never escape? Imagine a laser entering a glass–air boundary. At small angles, it bends as it leaves the glass. That’s refraction. Expected. Predictable. But slowly increase the angle… At around 42° (for glass), everything changes. The refracted ray vanishes. No light goes out. Instead, all of it bounces back inside. This is Total Internal Reflection. Not absorption. Not loss. Just full reflection. And it quietly runs some of the technologies we rely on every day: • Fiber optics carrying internet across oceans • The brilliance inside diamonds • Light guiding smoothly through water and optical devices It feels almost magical… But it’s just physics doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. Some boundaries don’t let light pass.

✅ Follow us ✅ Magic of Refraction!! In a situation where the glass and the liquid have matching refractive indices, the light passing through does not bend at the interface between the glass and the liquid. This lack of refraction means that there's no visual cue to indicate the presence of the glass, rendering it effectively "invisible" to the naked eye.
