Here’s what you need to know: A pronated grip instantly weakens the biceps and shifts the load onto the brachialis and brachioradialis, the muscles that actually make your forearms look meaty and your arms look thick from the side. But Larry wasn’t doing partials for no reason. In his own words: “It works in the middle.” And he wasn’t wrong. Research shows the brachioradialis fires the hardest once the elbow is flexed into the mid to upper range, especially in a reverse curl. Biomechanics studies also show it has better leverage in that same mid to top portion of the curl, while the biceps take over more at the bottom. So no, you don’t need to copy Larry’s exact partials. You can get the same effect by doing reverse curls facing a cable stack and slightly leaning back to keep the tension in that mid to top range where the brachioradialis actually works the hardest. Do that consistently and your forearms will get so pumped you won’t even get your watch on. Need help with your muscle building plan?
