Use a chair, couch, or table. 2–3 sets of: 1️⃣ Elevated hamstring bridge × 10 → If you’re strong, add 5 single-leg reps each side 2️⃣ Single-leg RDL / arabesque × 5 / 5 → Slow, controlled, hips square 3️⃣ Hamstring walkouts × 5 (out + back) 4️⃣ Elevated hamstring ISO hold × 30s Tips - If you’re doing this cold, spend 5 minutes warming up first - Walkouts: don’t go as far if it gets tough - ISO hold: bend the knees more to regress - Add this to the end of a home circuit or after a run - Quality > quantity — control every rep Strong hamstrings = resilient runners 💪🏻 #running #runner #runningstrength

You shouldn’t be starting your runs stiff after just waking up. Here are 5 simple exercises to get the body’s WD40 moving through the joints before you start your run. 1️⃣ Hip rotations 10 rotations in each direction will do the job. 2️⃣ Dynamic hamstring stretches Perform 10-12 reps 3️⃣ Sidewards leg swings 10 reps each leg 4️⃣ Glute bridges 8-10 reps 5️⃣ Walking lunges 5 reps on each leg. We’ve all been there - too lazy to do a warm up but know we still need to do the run 😅 tag a friend below and better yet, share it with them so they have no excuse. A few minutes could make a massive difference to your running. Save this quick, simple and effective warm up to use before your next run. You’re welcome 😉

✨Runners, if you have consistent tightness or pain in your hamstrings during or after runs then you need to focus on strengthening them! 🧠 When a muscle is weak our nervous system likes to keep that muscle in a state of increased tone as a way to stabilize and protect. Also, if your hamstrings are not prepared for the amount of load you are placing on them during a run then this could lead to them feeling tight and fatigued during a run. Try these 3 exercises to improve hamstring strength & tightness! 1. Single leg RDLs (if this are too difficult start with B stance RDLs): RDL variations are great for strengthening the hamstrings and also improving hamstring mobility. I recommend trying to sets of 8 reps. 2. Long lever bridge with elevated leg: this exercise is great for improving strength both proximally & distally. I recommend trying 3 sets of 8-10 reps each leg. 3. Banded hamstring PNF: PNF exercises use a contract/relax method that can decrease the sensation of “tightness” in the muscle. PNF training is not the best option for building strength, but when combined with strength training it can be very beneficial. I recommend trying 3 sets of 10 reps each leg. Personally, I like to do them before longer runs or aerobic intervals. Here is a list of the exercises: 1. Walking knee to chest 2. Hamstring stretch 3. Single leg RDL stretch 4. Superman stretch 5. Inchworm 6. Lateral lunges 7. Straight leg kicks 8. Lunge + twist PS. Over the last few months I have prioritised strength training my hamstrings twice per week and have seen great improvements in my speed In the past, I have struggled with proximal hamstring tendon pain. This has been due to multiple factors including a slight override that I had to fix and slightly weaker hamstrings then I would like Things why I train my Hamstrings 🔥 knee stability - along with the calf they protect the back of the knee 🔥 stride length and power 🔥 force production 🔥 energy transfer 🔥 injury prevention For the hamstrings I like to have exercises that are both hip dominant and knee dominant ⚡️💪🏻 The knee dominant exercises are the hamstring curl based exercises. You can do this on the machine in the gym or with the Swiss ball. these are great for helping you get the leg through the gait cycle ⚡️ The hip dominant exercises like the bridge and any hip hinge movement like a deadlift are brilliant for developing power and strength in the hamstrings and glutes and training the deceleration 1-2x per week is plenty The aim is not always to feel sore after as this can hinder your running but the more regularly you train then the better they will feel #run #runner #runners #runs #running #runrunrun #runhappy #marathon #halfmarathon #fitness #runaddict way

It can feel overwhelming as to what you should be doing in terms of a routine. Thats why I want to show you some quick & easy hip exercises you can perform keep you moving a your best. How to perform in 5 minutes ⬇️ 1️⃣ Hinge to Deep Squat | 2 sets x 8-10 reps 2️⃣ Internal Rotations | 2 sets x 8-10 reps each side 3️⃣ Rock Back Squat | 2 sets x 8-10 reps 4️⃣ Hip Circles | 2 sets x 8-10 reps each side 5️⃣ 45 Degree Hip Drops | 2 sets x 8-10 reps each side (hold for 15-20 sec before switching) 6️⃣ Alternating Pigeon Pose | 2 sets x 8-10 reps each side (hold for 15-20 sec before switching) 7️⃣ Worlds Greatest Stretch | 2 sets x 8-10 reps each side You can perform these daily for 5min or add it as part of your warm up/cool down routine. These are small things that play a BIG role especially compounded. So keep it in mind, doing this once a week (on your recovery or tempo day, or even on the off day before your race) is a GAME CHANGER. Or at least, it was for me.
