One of my favorite “everybody” back exercises: the half-kneeling, single-arm high cable row. It’s one of the most accessible vertical pulls I’ve found for clients — and here’s why: • It’s easier on the shoulders than a traditional lat pulldown, making it a better fit for more people. • You can actually train the lats harder (and feel them more!) because you’re not limited by shoulder mobility. • You sneak in core and hip stability by locking in that down knee — think toe dug in, glute squeezed! • Plus, because of how your lats connect down into your low back, the line of pull in this movement is super natural for the lats to do their thing. For many, this can absolutely be a primary back builder. For stronger lifters, I like it as a primer or later in the session when the focus shifts to feel and control over heavy loading. (Bonus tip: If you need more stability, place a bench in front of you and brace your non-working hand!) Oh — and if you want a little extra lat stretch and natural shoulder movement? Two movements that are strikingly similar is a kneeling single arm pulldown and a machine high row... although one is labeled a row and the other a pulldown. Regardless, both are gonna be lat focused exercises that slightly bias more of the upper lats due to being in the saggital plane. If I had to choose between one of them, I’d actually opt more for the high row since it’s easier to stay within the rom where the lats have leverage for shoulder extension and it’s more stable.

As the weight gets heavier it's going to be hard to stabilise yourself so adding a bench makes it so much better Also think about driving elbow down into the pocket 🦾 Hope this helps ✅❤️
