The Peruvian Amazon is home to some of the most bizarre and beautiful insects on Earth! During our travels in a Peru we would often drive to this highway construction light around midnight to observe and see all the unique insects that would come to this single source of bright light in primary jungle. A fantastic way to see many of the remarkable insects that call this ecosystem home. Every step revealed insects that look almost unreal in shape, size, camouflage, colors, and morphology, perfectly evolved to fit various niches in the Amazon. Some mimic leaves or bark, others look armoured, or even alien-like in appearance! It was such a privilege to have just a tiny glimpse into the unmatched insect biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest thanks to my dear friend @understory_enterprises_inc !
