In my professional experience going on a low histamine diet is one of the worst things you can do. It doesn’t solve the root problem which is a damaged gut, and it actually makes it worse. I have worked with tons of clients who have followed the low histamine diet and their health only declined while the list of their intolerances grew. The gut is EVERYTHING and if you can nourish it and repopulate it with beneficial probiotics, histamine intolerance goes away! If you’ve reversed your histamine intolerance by healing the gut I’d love to know in the comments below! And if you want to know how, check out my complete guide to reversing Histamine Intolerance (link in bio) #histamineintolerance #gapsdiet #guthealth #mcas #mastcellactivationsyndrome

Histamine intolerance isn’t just about “cutting things out”—it’s about supporting your body’s ability to process histamine, calm mast cells, fortify gut health & reduce the total inflammatory load. 5 holistic things I do to manage histamine 👇🏼⁣ 1️⃣ I take a histamine-free, spore-based probiotic from @justthrivehealth #justthrivepartner coupon 🔖 “ALI” Many common strains (like L. casei & L. bulgaricus) can actually produce histamine ‼️
📍 Comment PROBIOTIC for the one I take—proven to address leaky gut in 30 days! 👏🏼
Just Thrive uses proven, DNA verified strains that don’t make histamine, survive stomach acid, & support tight junctions—crucial for gut + immune health. Spore-based means they’re encased in a tough shell that ensures they reach the intestines intact, where they can modulate the microbiome. It’s been SO helpful for gas, bloating, 💩 regularity & supporting gut health! 🙏🏻 2️⃣ I limit high-histamine foods like aged cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha, smoked meats, spinach & leftovers. These either contain histamine or trigger its release—& if DAO (the enzyme that breaks it down) isn’t keeping up, symptoms like flushing, rashes, mood issues, or GI issues can show up. 3️⃣ I nourish my gut with diversity. I aim for 30+ plant types weekly (herbs & spices count!) & load up on polyphenol-rich foods like blueberries, pomegranate, leafy greens, matcha, cacao & olive oil. A diverse gut reduces histamine-producing bacteria & inflammation. 4️⃣ I support DAO activity with meals. DAO breaks down histamine in the gut. I’ll sometimes take a DAO supplement before high-risk meals & focus on liposomal C & vitamin C-rich foods like kiwi, bell peppers, strawberries & parsley to boost DAO & calm mast cells. 5️⃣ I use mast cell stabilizers like quercetin + luteolin. These flavonoids help prevent mast cell degranulation (aka the release of histamine & cytokines). Quercetin-rich foods: red onions, apples (with skin), cranberries, kale & capers. Do you have histamine issues? 💭 What wellness strategies help? 👇🏼

So you cut out all the "high histamine"

You’ve blamed your itchy skin, bloating, anxiety, headaches, congestion, maybe even your PMS — on histamines.
So you cut out all the “high histamine” foods: no avocado, chocolate, bone broth, wine, leftovers.
And sure… maybe you felt a little better.
But now you’re living on a hyper-restrictive diet that’s nearly impossible to maintain. Here’s the thing no one’s telling you:
It’s not about eliminating more foods.
It’s about fixing why your body can’t handle histamines in the first place. Because histamine intolerance is not a food issue — it’s a processing issue. And no amount of low-histamine eating will fix this if: * You have gut imbalances that produce histamines (like overgrowths of certain bacteria & fungus) * Your minerals are depleted * Your estrogen can’t detox (which is why you might have flares around ovulation + pre-period) Your body needs a few key things to break histamine down effectively:
✔️ A healthy balance of gut bacteria
✔️ Daily bowel movements (or estrogen recirculates)
✔️ Nutrients like vitamin C, B vitamins, copper, and iron
✔️ A strong gut-liver detox combo This is why we don’t just avoid foods — we address the root:
→ Gut health
→ Mineral & vitamin status
→ Detox capacity Because when your body can break histamine down properly, symptoms improve — without needing to cut out half your fridge. ✨ We do this with clients by helping them:
✔️ Rebuild a resilient gut
✔️ Support daily poops
✔️ Replenish your minerals
✔️ Strengthen your detox pathways So you can stop guessing, stop restricting, and finally feel good in your body again. Ready to stop chasing food triggers and get to the root of your symptoms? DM me HISTAMINE and let’s talk about how we can support you!
