A little structural engineering lesson! Jettying is where upper level walls are shifted out beyond the area of the floor below. Beams supporting these walls have to be cantilevered out past the lower level walls. When a structure utilizes jettying - a negative bending moment is created which causes the beam to bend upwards. The positive bending moment from regular floor load is counteracted by the negative moment from the wall supported at the end of the cantilever. This can drastically reduce the depth of beams needed for floor framing! (Yes I know this is technically not a propped cantilever - it’s more like a cantilever with a back span!) #lego #structuralengineering #brickgineer

Structural Analysis & Drafting.. . . 1. Position of column & orientation based on floor plan. 2. Running of beam layout for all floors considering brick work drawing. 3. Preparation of centreline drawings. 4. Creating the model & analysis of structure in analysis software. 5. As per IS code books IS 875 & SP 16 loads are assigned. 6. After analysis based on structural reactions & soil bearing capacity size of footings are decided. 7. Area of steel percentage and bending moments decides the size & reinforcement of columns & beam. #structuraldrawing #structuralanalysis #buildingfoundations #gmdcivilsolutions

Β© Copyright Pro-Level Civil Engineering. All Rights Reserved. 4 important rules when designing a Concrete Torsion-Exposed Beam: When a slab is subjected to loading, the resulting force generates a moment on the beam, manifesting as torsion. This torsional force induces diagonal tensile stresses across the entire peripheral zone. To effectively counteract these stresses, follow these 4 roles: 1. Strategically place longitudinal reinforcement along the entire perimeter of the beam. 2. Equip stirrups with a double hook for optimal effectiveness. 3. Securely anchor rebars from the slab in the beam, either through a double bend or a traditional one-piece design. 4. Design beams under torsion with a larger width due to high shear strength requirements. #structuralengineering #concretedesign #civil #construction #design

(ENG/ESP) When I started my career as a structural engineer, I never had the idea that I would be able to analyze hybrids like these, half structure, half machine. It has been a great challenge, although a great effort, especially because in Chile there are no standards for their design and it is necessary to address international regulations for materials handling πŸ”₯. Let’s talk structural engineering! There is a basic rule-of-thumb to use deflected shapes to determine where positive or negative bending moments are occurring along a span - let’s use LEGO to help show it. Look for smiley 😊 faces for areas of positive bending and frowns ☹️ in areas of negative bending! #legoengineering #structuralengineering #brickgineer
