The issue with traditional talk therapy, for example, is that it leaves out the other half of the puzzle - 🧬 the BODY. EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a somatic healing practice that marries positive psychology with acupressure. When these modalities are blended together, you receive a much more potent transformation, quite immediately. When I guide someone through a round of EFT, I’m looking for an emotional release of some kind because that tells me that the recipient has entered a tapping ‘flow state’, if you will. That might look like a big yawn, or laughter, or certainly tears. These kinds of responses signal an unlocking process.. a surrendering. 💫 And that is exactly where the quantum leap happens. Modern psychology has been so heavily focused on the thinking mind, which is fantastic, but it kind of keeps us in a closed loop - going around and around in circles with our repetitive stressful thoughts. EFT tapping has a way of breaking that circuit and cracking open a new emotional baseline.. and quickly! A randomized trial conducted by ‘Little Lives’ a few years ago found that cortisol (your stress hormone) dropped 24% after just one EFT session, outperforming talk therapy, with anxiety reductions up to 58%. When you think about something stressful, your brain activates your alarm system — your fight-or-flight response. But when you gently tap on specific acupressure points while focusing on that stress, you may send your nervous system a different message: “I’m safe.” So instead of spiraling, your body starts to calm down.
