🌟Beginners Pilates 🌟 Here are 4 great Pilates exercises for beginners focussing on core strength and stability. All you need is a mat and your breath — start slow and focus on quality over quantity. Here we go: 1. Single leg extensions (10 reps each leg) Start lying on your back with one leg in tabletop position. Inhale to prepare, exhale to extend one leg out to 45 degrees, keeping your spine neutral and core engaged (think about drawing your navel in towards your spine and squeezing your TVA. Your TVA is your deepest core muscle that wraps around your lumbar spine like a corset! Inhale to return to tabletop. Keep your pelvis still, ribs soft, and shoulders relaxed. 2. Dead Bug (8–10 reps each side) Imprint your spine (lengthen your lumbar spine into the mat using the core to do so), Legs in tabletop and reach arms to the ceiling. Exhale to extend one leg and the opposite arm away from you. Inhale to return. Focus on slow, controlled movement — keep imagining your back gently imprinting into the mat. 3. Four Point Knee Hovers (Hold for 10 seconds x 3 rounds) Come into a tabletop position with hands under shoulders, knees under hips. Tuck the toes, inhale to prepare. Exhale to lift the knees 1–2 inches off the mat — hover and hold. Keep your spine long, abdominals lifted, and shoulders away from ears. Rest, then repeat. 4. Kneeling Superman (8–10 reps each side) Still in four-point kneeling, exhale to reach one arm forward and the opposite leg back. Keep your hips square and your belly lifted away from the mat. Lengthen your leg and arm away (think length, not height). Inhale to return, then switch sides. This move builds balance, back strength, and deep core control. Take your time and focus on breath, control, and form. Repeat the full set 2–3 times for a great beginner core session.
