When working through the delivery, as a right handed thrower, we want to make sure that our right continues rotating into the finish! When the right foot stalls rotating, the upper body will get ahead of the lower body, losing the ground forces generated from the lower body! Here is a video I made for two of the athletes I coach discussing my thoughts on the actions of the finish! 🚨My most important video ever.🚨 For many years I competed as a glide thrower. That is where I built my career. That is where I gained depth, experience, and understanding. I know this system inside out — technically, mentally, emotionally. Now I want to grow as a coach. And to do that, I need to learn. I don’t want to analyze the rotational technique from a distance. I want to understand it through the knowledge of those who truly live it — rotational throwers, coaches, analysts, experts. I am asking you to share your thoughts. Your technical keys. Your biggest mistakes. Your learning process. Your feeling in the circle. What truly made you better? What is underestimated? What is often taught incorrectly? This is genuine. I want to listen. I want to improve. If you are willing to share your experience, please reach out. Comment below. Send me a message. And forward this to athletes and coaches who have valuable knowledge to contribute. As a glide thrower, I have deep experience. In the rotational technique, I want to grow. Thank you to everyone who is willing to share their knowledge. #shotput #throws #athletics

Quality > Quantity was the theme of yesterday’s session It can be challenging balancing out training at school practice and training onsite with the onsite athletes but one of the things I try to do is focus more on the quality of movement, putting emphasis one major aspect and allow the athlete to flow. We might not get a ton of reps but the reps we do get are valuable. Sometimes less is more! This the ULTIMATE tool that help me get over 60 meters!!! The cone is the tool that is utilized in my training right before hitting 60 meters for the first time. It’s also the tool I use with the athlete I train, to ensure that they can get wide out the back! Placing the cone of the left of the left foot, as a right handed thrower, can give the athlete a target to work around and give the coach a visual to see if their athlete is sweeping wide out the back! If you are someone who has been having issues with getting wide, utilize a cone during your next session and see how it will help you! Mastering No-Feet Fulls this off-season will build your foundation to have MASSIVE tosses in-season!!! No-feet fulls can be done from partial throws, like the stand, half-turn, or a-pull. Focus on keeping the back foot grounded through the delivery. We like the cue “Rotate on bent right” *Right handed thrower* Take anywhere between 8-15 no-feet non reverse full and once you feel positions established, carry over that feeling to reverse fulls! Do this at least 4 sessions per week for 30 days and I promise you will be throwing further! How do people throw far? It’s a genuine question that needs to be answered. 1. Angular momentum 2. Linear momentum This stems from positions within the throw. This can be created by range of motion and speed across the circle…which leads to hip/shoulder separation and a high speed release. @iamauriciortega has been slamming the 2.5k throws this spring. His movement is quicker and confidence is building. Train with @throwsuniversity online! #throwfar

This mistake is killing your finish, costing you 2-3 feet on your toss🙅🏿‍♂️ When working through the finish of the shot, we want to turn on a bent right as the left hand sweeps open, getting the body squared towards the direction of the throw, allowing us to push from the ground up into the finish! Be careful that the right foot doesn’t shut down and the left shoulder takes over. This will cause a shift towards the direction of the throw and usually makes the athlete finish over the top Join the squad at ThrowsUniversity.com or on-site @garagestrength ! #THROWSUNIVERSITY #SHOTPUT #TRAINING #COACHING #DISTANCEMAXXING

If you are slow off the left out the back than you should try the South African drill!!! The focus with the drill is to push off the left and ground it to the front quick while keeping the shoulder back. We recommend 2 sets of 3-5 reps before your full throws, so you can establish the rhythm of getting off the left!
