@dr_sidney_ortho -🦴 NOT ALL BONE PAIN IS “GROWING PAIN” Osteosarcoma is a rare but aggressive bone cancer that usually affects teenagers and young adults. It commonly arises in the long bones especially around the knee (femur, tibia) or upper arm. Early symptoms can be subtle: persistent bone pain, swelling, tenderness, or pain worsening at night or during activity. Because it mimics sports injuries or growth pain, diagnosis is often delayed. Early detection is critical. Imaging (X-ray, MRI) and biopsy confirm the diagnosis. Treatment includes surgery and chemotherapy. If bone pain doesn’t go away or keeps worsening don’t ignore it. Get it evaluated.

The tibia is the second largest bone in the body situated on the medial side in the leg. The tibia is the pre-axial bone and homologous with the lateral bone of the forearm, the radius. It transmits weight of the body from femur to the foot. The tibia is a long bone and consists of three parts: upper end, lower end, and intervening shaft. The upper end is expanded and bears prominent medial and lateral condyles and tibial tuberosity. The medial condyle is larger than the lateral condyle. The two condyles articulate with the condyle of the femur. The shaft has three borders—anterior, medial, and lateral; and three surfaces—medial, lateral, and posterior. The anterior border is the sharpest and takes a sinuous course from the tibial tuberosity and becomes continuous below with the anterior border of the medial malleolus. The lower end is small and projects medially and inferiorly as medial malleolus.

Haddi Mera Buddy Episode Two Part II: The Tibia The Tibia, identified anteriorly by the shin border and the tibial tuberosity, gives attachment to several structures on its condylar upper end. Are some structures associated with it. Further, it articulates with the talus bone of the foot to form the ankle joint. Tibia & Fibula notes - read here - Save this lesson for later ⤵️ @rev.med   🧠 Be sure to follow the page 👉🏼@rev.med and let us know the next bone or muscle you’d like to see!   ✅ Overview Fibula is not responsible for weight bearing and it has 3 main articulations. 1: Proxmial tibiofibular joint (lateral condyle of tibia) 2: Distal tibiofibular joint (fibular notch of tibia) 3: Ankle joint (talus bone of the foot) Tibia is our shin bone. It’s actually the 2nd largest bone and it is a weight bearing bone! ✅ Tibia & Fibula 1️⃣ Proximal  Tibia *Medial & lateral condyles (key to knee joint) *Intercondylar eminence (projects upwards & attachment for ligaments & menisci of the knee) Fibula *Enlarged head with a facet to connect with the lateral condyle of the tibia *Find the common fibular nerve on the posterior & lateral surface of the neck of the fibula 2️⃣ Shaft Tibia *prism shaped with three surfaces & borders (anterior, posterior & lateral) -Anterior border is marked by tibial tuberosity & attachment for patella ligament -Posterior surface -Lateral border aka interosseous border which gives attachment to interosseous membrane that binds tibia & fibula together. Fibula *3 surfaces (anterior, lateral & posterior) 3️⃣ Distal Tibia *Medial malleolus is a bony projection & articulates with tarsal bones to form the ankle *Laterally is the fibular notch where the fibula binds to the tibia. Fibula *Lateral malleolus is seen better than the medial malleolus and we can even palpate it. #anatomy #anatomyandphysiology #humananatomy #bones #medschool #nursingschool #studygra m #fyp #reels #viral #skeleton #REVmed #anatomia #anatomie #medico #usmle

High Tibial Osteotomy @iam_medico_dp High Tibial Osteotomy is a realignment surgery in which the upper part of the tibia (shin bone) is cut and reshaped to shift body weight from the damaged part of the knee to the healthier side. 🦴 Purpose • Reduce knee pain • Improve function and mobility • Delay the need for total knee replacement ⚙️ How it Works • The surgeon cuts the tibia near the knee • Either adds a wedge (opening wedge) or removes a wedge (closing wedge) of bone • This changes the alignment of the leg • Weight is redistributed away from the worn-out cartilage 👨‍⚕️ Indications • Young or active patients • Unicompartmental osteoarthritis (mainly inner knee damage) • Bow-legged deformity (varus alignment) ⏳ Recovery • Partial weight-bearing for a few weeks • Full recovery may take 3–6 months ⚠️ Risks • Infection • Blood clots • Non-union (bone not healing properly) • Over- or under-correction

TIBIALIS ANTERIOR is the largest muscle on the front of the lower leg. It attaches to the upper aspect of the tibia (lateral condyle and body of tibia) and the 1st metatarsal of the foot (bone just before the big toe). The muscle acts to dorsal flex the ankle, or in other words pulls the foot upwards. . . #instituteofhumananatomy #anatomy #anatomylab #anatomyclass #cadaver #cadavers #cadaverlab #physiology #physiologyclass #biology #biologyclass #science #scienceclass #tibialisanterior #calf #calfstretch #calfstrength #shin #shinpain #shinsplints #tendonitis #run #runners #running #foamroll
