Big update for fellow Naija travelers: As of February 25, 2026, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has officially transitioned to a fully digital system for Nigerian applicants. No more physical vignette stickers pasted in your passport!
Here's what the migration from vignette visas to eVisas means: Fully digital proof of permission — Successful applicants now receive an eVisa (electronic visa) stored online in a free UKVI account, instead of a sticker in the passport.
Faster process — Passports are often returned the same day after biometrics (no waiting for stickers to be affixed and shipped back), cutting turnaround times and hassle.
Enhanced security & convenience — Your visa details can't be lost, stolen, or tampered with. Access your status anytime online, share it easily when needed (e.g., for travel or airlines), and manage everything digitally.
What to do next — Once approved, create/link your UKVI account at gov.uk/evisa to view and use your eVisa. Travel with the passport you applied with + your approval email/details.
Still the same application — You apply online, submit biometrics at a visa center, and meet requirements — just the final issuance is now digital for visit visas.
