Consensus is free to use, but if you want full access with unlimited credits, you can use the CODE ✨PHDONTOUR✨FOR 40% OFF THE YEARLY PLAN ⏳ Note: the code expires today (April 30) Which is better to conduct academic research: ChatGPT or Claude + Consensus? I tested both using the exact same prompt to see how they compare and the results were pretty clear. Claude + Consensus came out ahead, especially when it comes to sourcing and structuring research-backed answers. If you’re not familiar, Consensus pulls from a large database of academic papers, which makes it particularly useful for research proposals and evidence-based writing. 📌 Save it for later and ➡️ Follow @phdontour for more academic insights Ad | #phd #research #consensus #writingtips #phdstudent

I used to be obsessed with doing MORE research. I was reading papers nearly every waking hour, yet my output wasn’t improving at all 😔 As it turns out I was spending most of my time on research tasks that gave me the illusion of progress without actually helping me understand, analyse, or produce better work 😭 Once I stopped doing this, I was able to cut my research time in half while producing clearer insights, better arguments, and stronger analyses. So, what was wasting so much time? Taking long, detailed notes from papers. Or more specifically, rewriting them. Every day, I sat down and copied chunks of academic articles into my notebook or digital docs. It felt productive because I was writing a lot (and organising everything neatly), but did it actually improve my research quality? Nope. So what do I do instead? 1. SMARTER READING 🧠 Now, instead of manually summarising every section of a paper, I upload it to Anara. Anara breaks down the key arguments, highlights methods and limitations, and helps me extract what actually matters. I still read the paper, but I spend my time analysing - not rewriting. 2. ACTIVE QUESTIONING WHILE READING 👀 Instead of passively copying notes, I focus on asking questions as I read: - What is the author actually arguing? - Why did they choose this method? - How does this connect to my topic? This keeps my brain engaged and stops me from slipping into autopilot. 3. MIND MAPPING 🗺️ When starting a new topic, I use ‘create image’ in Anara to build a concept map of the field from the literature I’ve uploaded. This visualises how theories, variables, and studies connect - and helps me remember and interpret research far more effectively than linear notes ever did. Applying these changes helped me halve my research time while producing work that’s clearer, deeper, and more insightful. I’ve finally created a balance that doesn’t require sacrificing quality. Follow along as I keep refining my workflow and become a more balanced, efficient researcher. #phd #phdstudent #masters #researcher #researchtips #phdstruggles #phdlife #research #academia

Typing a question into a search bar and scrolling through the first few links isn’t research — it’s information hunting. Research means going beyond what’s easily visible. It’s about systematic inquiry — asking focused questions, gathering reliable evidence, analyzing it critically, and drawing conclusions that add something new to what’s already known. #researchpaper #dissertation #literaturereview #chithappens #research #psychology #follow #viral
