MAI came across this amazing video from this phenomenal teacher @always.upper.elementary, and wow, we all could learn a thing or two from this lesson! No matter our age, our words matter. What we say matters. How we say things matter. The younger we are when we understand this the better, but hopefully it’s not too late for some people to learn! I love this idea that if someone can’t change something about themselves in 30 seconds or less, then you shouldn’t be mentioning it to them. This doesn’t just apply to when we say something to someone in person, but how we behave online. Let us all remember we are responsible for our words, and once they are out of our mouths or typed, it’s hard to take them back. #abovethenoise

SIWe should be preparing kids for life, not jobs. The reality is most of the jobs young kids in school today see will be radically transformed by technology. Instead, we need to set kids up to thrive in a dynamic future underscored by advanced technologies.
That means fostering adaptability, critical thinking, (among many other skills!) and the ability to build and shape the technologies around them. No matter how the workforce evolves, or how life unfolds, they’ll be ready to navigate change and seize new opportunities.
(This is not an exhaustive list of skills. There are several other examples of skills I’ve shared in previous posts and in lectures).
I got the opportunity to give a talk at @sxsw to over 1000 educators on AI and the future of education. The talk was credited as a course for teachers. Thank you for having me @sxswedu

GEI had a friend in university who got straight A’s in our premed classes without looking like he was trying. I realized he was just really efficient with his studying when I decided to study with him. It was mentally demanding and high intensity studying. When he went through material he actually was learning and retaining it. This was the same strategy he was using.
Read a paragraph, say it out load without looking at the text what you just read until you hit all of the points, then write it all down on paper in the simplest way possible. Then once it’s all done. Try to teach it out loud to someone. Even have them ask questions.
Now, have your kids do this with you to learn something new of their choice to earn money. When they teach it to you and you ask questions, afterward, give them money. They are learning how to learn. Then teach them how to spend that money well.
