Nobody really talks about this, but career rules have changed. A polished resume and a degree still matter — just not nearly enough anymore. And if you want to change careers, most advice makes it sound like you have to start from zero. You don’t. I’ve changed careers 5 times in 7 years and made more money each time — not less. finance → private equity → shareholder activism → crisis management → public relations (trading and consulting too, but I prefer to forget that part 😅) These are the career rules I wish I knew at 21: 1. Your degree matters less than how you position your skills. 2. Changing careers doesn’t mean starting from the bottom — it means reframing what you already know. 3. People hire people, not resumes. Build relationships before you need something. 4. Your career is a story — learn to control the narrative. Don’t let others define you. 5. Relationships create leverage. Applications don’t. 6. Most jobs are learned on the job. You already have experience — just in a different industry. The fundamentals of how companies run are the same. 7. Changing paths doesn’t mean you failed. It means you outgrew. 8. People who judge you aren’t building anything. 9. Starting over is easier than staying stuck. 10. Career paths are built sideways, not vertically. 11. Your mindset travels with you more than your job title does. 12. If you can solve problems, you can change industries. 13. Stability is a story society sells you. Growth is what actually protects you. 14. Rejection is information, not a verdict. 15. You’re not late — you’re just early in a different direction. Some narratives just need updating 🙌 👉 Thinking about changing industries? Comment what you want to move into and I’ll share how I’d approach it. Follow @karinabarton_ for more.

Comment CHANGE ⬇️⬇️ to attend my free masterclass on how to change your career without starting over. Here’s the thing no one tells you: most people spend months (maybe even years) going back and forth between “maybe I just need a break” and “maybe I need a whole new direction.” And that in-between is the most exhausting place to be. Whether it’s burnout, the wrong role, or both, the answer starts with getting clear on what you actually want and what to actually do about it 🙌🏽. That’s exactly what we’re covering in my free masterclass next week. 60 minutes live. Q&A to answer your most pressing questions. And a proven framework to help you move forward with clarity instead of confusion!

If only I’d known these 20 years ago…. 1️⃣ Don’t chase job titles - that’s your ego talking. Instead, ask: “Would I actually enjoy doing this day to day?” 2️⃣ Cold-applying online rarely works. People hire people they know (or know of). Build connections early. 3️⃣ Communication > competence. You can be brilliant, but if you can’t articulate your value, you’ll get overlooked. 4️⃣ Stop choosing jobs to make your parents proud. Choose the one that makes you feel proud. This would’ve saved me years of frustration. ✨ Follow me @brighticoaching for career tips that actually help. #careerchange #careerclarity #findajobilove

Thinking about changing career but dont know where to start. Or maybe you've been working your butt off but still not got that promotion, or you ahve that constant feeling that there might be something out there that your skills and passion would be better aligned to? Most people when considering these things make 3 common mistakes. They: – Upskill without direction – Apply for roles without alignment – Chase confidence instead of evidence Clarity always comes before confidence. And strategy always beats urgency. If you’re busy but still stuck — this is probably why. Follow me and get my FREE Career Reset ebook to get you on the right track. #careerchange #reset #newjob #clarity #freecareerreset

My first career decision failed. Publicly. Painfully. Silently. No applause. No mentor. No “you’ll be fine” comments. Just self-doubt and a question I couldn’t escape: “What if I’m not cut out for this?” Here’s what no one told me👇 Failure doesn’t mean you chose the wrong career. It means you chose without clarity. Most professionals don’t need motivation. They need direction. Especially women who: • Are educated but confused • Are working hard but feel stuck • Are successful on paper but unhappy inside I was one of them. That “epic fail” forced me to stop chasing roles… and start building a career roadmap. If you’re reading this and thinking: “Why am I capable but still unsure?” “Why does everyone else look confident?” “Why do I feel behind?” You’re not behind. You’re just early in the clarity phase. 💬 Comment “CAREER” if this resonates I read every comment. --- 🔑 REAL LinkedIn SEO Keywords (use naturally) career clarity career confusion career roadmap career failure career transition women career growth professional women career coaching personal branding for professionals career change after 30 career growth strategies (LinkedIn reads keywords inside sentences, not just hashtags.) --- 🔥 REAL VIRAL LINKEDIN HASHTAGS (Use 5–8 only) These are high-reach + high-intent (not spammy): #CareerGrowth #CareerClarity #ProfessionalWomen #WomenAtWork #CareerJourney CareerTransition PersonalBrand LeadershipDevelopment Optional swap (rotate, don’t stack): WorkingWomen WomenInLeadership CareerAdvice CareerCoaching

From hopeless, crying in a toxic job to an offer double her salary in under 30 days. That’s what happened to one of my students just this month. It wasn’t some magical network, connection, or hack that got her hired. It was a simple, straightforward process that she followed to a T. (Takes under 20 minutes/day, too). Most job seekers are doing daily work that feels productive… but doesn’t move the job search forward at all. It ends up costing time, money, and energy that job seekers don’t have. I wanted to help put your job search on turbo speed, so I made a guide… It’s exactly what I gave my student who hired in under 30 days. It includes: - what to look for - what to skip, - and how to stop wasting energy on the wrong roles If you want to search to get results instead of just spinning your wheels… comment SEARCH and I’ll send it to you. ❤️ // I’m Abbey, and I help you design your dream career, then go get hired for it. Follow for career advice. ❤️
