CAhow did i decide? i flipped a coin
that is the real story of how i chose yale!
when my teacher heard that I had gotten into every school i applied to, including all 8 ivy leagues, he knew I was going to make one of the most important decisions of my life. so he told me to come back to him after I narrowed it down to two.
I went on the admitted students weekends at various campuses and narrowed it down to two: Yale and Harvard.
when I told my teacher, he pulled out a coin.
oh no, I thought. I’m not staking my future on a coin toss!
He told me to do it anyway. And that whatever the coin landed on I would have to tell him my most immediate reaction.
I called tails for Yale.
It landed on tails.
and the first thing that I felt was relief.
I have my own personal reasons for choosing yale: I admired how they cultivated arts and culture, a lot of artists I admired went there, and most importantly, it felt like a home when I visited. you’ll have your own reasons for choosing your college too. whatever it is, go with your heart. don’t go for the name or the brand. your life is your life (not your parents).

LW🎉 YALE early action results are out! 📢
This is the first admissions cycle with Yale’s new “test flexible” policy (which requires test scores, but allow students to submit not only SAT or ACT tests but also AP or IB test scores).
Here’s what the admissions office has to say about the 728 students they admitted early action this year 🧑🎓:
🗣️ “Members of the admissions committee were impressed by the breadth and depth of achievements, experiences, interests, and ambitions among our early action applicants.”
What you should take away:
🌟 There’s no ONE type of student Yale is looking for (students they accepted had all sorts of experiences and interests) ✨
🌟 Applicants should make sure they’re conveying their AMBITION with their applications (essays are a great place to do that!) 🚀
🌟 You should think hard about your testing strategy, because Yale cares about test scores, regardless of which type of test scores you choose to send (and Yale isn’t alone! Selective colleges care more about test scores than they might let on!!) 🎯
