SUWe sell great, locally refurbished turntable set-ups in our shop, with contact details for our trusty repairer should you need them. Remember to check with a qualified electrician when buying a refurbished record player! Here are our tips for starting out with a quality turntable setup:
- Choose secondhand where possible - repairable, good quality for an affordable price, keep things out of landfill, slow mass production
- Go look at it in person
- Look for quality brands you know and research brands you haven’t heard of
- Check for features you need, like speed…
- …a built-in amplifier/cassette deck/radio/CD player,
- or separate components (amp/turntable/speaker) you can add later.
- Find out if it has been serviced and has a new/qualitt cartridge, stylus and/or belt.
- Ask to listen to a record on it. If it sounds great - take it home!
