I used to be SO embarrassed of the way I walk. In my wheelchair I feel (mostly) smooth and graceful. When I’m upright I’m gangly and awkward and I stumble (a lot). Over the years, I’ve grown to love my wobbly walk. It may attract some stares when I’m upright, but I’m thankful for any mobility my jello legs still have in ‘em! Not to mention, I’m lucky AF to have a family that is willing to help me waddle along the sand, no matter how many stares we get. 🏖️👙♿️ ———————- . 🩼: @ergoactives . . . #disabled #adayinmylife #crutches #forearmcrutches #babewithamobilityaid #disability #ambulatorywheelchairuser #sandiego #oceanbeach #oceanbeachdogbeach #eds #ehlersdanlossyndrome #disabledmom #BabeWithAMobilityAid

Disability as dynamic as my mobility aids cause sometimes I’m just a babe other times I’m a babe with a mobility aid! 💁🏻‍♀️ When my symptoms start to change now so does my cane, to a chair! #TaDaChair Having a dynamic disability means that my symptoms fluctuate in severity. It can be extremely difficult to manage & know how to accommodate my own body when it’s hard for me even to know what to expect day to day, even moment to moment. When I feel good (meaning low to manageable symptoms) having a mobility aid can sometimes feel like an extra thing I have to keep track of but when I NEED it… I need it, am so f*cking thankful it’s there & it’s a game changer on my quality of life. I often times prep best I can before doing something I know will be tough on me (like standing in lines all day), try to pre-gage what’s gonna happen, ensure backup plans, emergency meds if possible but ultimately I make the best decision possible for me situationally, advocate accordingly for my needs & often times that means deciding between various medical tools/mobility aids & or gambling with myself. I often times have used a collapsible cane which I love cause it’s compact, easy to carry when I don’t need it & nice to lean on for support while walking if I’m dizzy but it can’t help much when I NEED to actually sit down so I often end up on the floor. Otherwise I’ll use a rollator which feels incredible when needed cause I can sit comfortably anytime, has the benefit of holding extra items for me & people give me more space but otherwise is large, challenging to transport & I must push around at all times. The Ta-Da chair so far has been the closest best of both worlds & something I’m really excited about. I found it on Amazon & will link it in my bio. I was looking out of curiosity one day for cane/chairs & loved how compact it is. When I saw it came in brown, I was hooked. I’m still getting use to it, have used it only twice now but will keep y’all posted. . It’s finally my season, stick season!🩼 (Get it 😂) Disabled Diary: This past weekend was my first ever autumn weekend in Vermont and all I can say is, I love Vermont! I tried hand pies, ate maple creamies, took tiny walks, marveled at the changing colors, rode a tram up a mountain, and helped two of my very best friends get married. Autumn is a season that scares me. Autumn in the past has been a season where I have been the sickest, the season that I almost didn’t survive. This weekend, experiencing autumn in a new place, soaking up all of life’s magical little moments, and surrounded by love helped me to create new memories that I will always dream of when I think of autumn. I’ve come to learn that I’m never going to forget those scary months, they will never hurt less and will always be with me, but slowly I will create new memories. The memories from those months will be overshadowed by the beauty of our world and the warmth of friends that have become family. So maybe autumn has been hard, but I can make it my season too. This autumn I’m remembering that hard things, sad things, happy things, and beautiful things can all coexist and that’s what makes our world so wonderful. Today is world mental health day. The impact of our physical health on our mental health isn’t talked about nearly enough, but today I thought I would share a little bit of where I’m at with you to hopefully bring some awareness to it. Feeling your all of your feelings is actually good for your mental health. Always remember, you are so loved exactly as you are. What a girl wants, what a girl NEEDS! 💅🏼 It’s hard to explain how much my rollator has changed my life, but I’m going to try. I’ve had ‘Paris Hilton’ for 2 months, while I’ve been less active, and more out of breath than ever, I’ve been able to physically move MORE with her help (I named my carbon ultra light rollator Paris Hilton cause she’s iconic) After I had my full neck dissection surgery in January, I had 100 lymph nodes taken out, and I could feel the fluid swelling up every couple hours and the relief is through walking (I’m not able to safely get lymphatic massage, as it can be dangerous with metastatic pheochromocytomas) So consistent walking is vital for me, where I can get my circulation, and prevent clotting or trapped fluid. But having all these hormones and chemicals misfiring, it creates the WORST pain. So when I’d walk, my shoulder blades felt like they’d fall to the ground. I couldn’t lift my own arms up anymore. I was wearing a brace which helped a little but not enough. I do have a wheelchair, but it wouldn’t help my issue with mobility and pain. With all that said, @byacre solved every problem I had with Paris Hilton. 🩷 It’s the lightest weight rollator so I can lift it myself without increasing my HR too much. 🩷 it’s cloud pink, which acts as a chic extension of my ‘fabulous’ as I call it 🩷 it’s allowed me to walk further, more often, and not feel anxious about whether or not I’ll be ‘able to’ keep up with my schedule 🩷 increasing my confidence with reduced pain levels, being in a better mood, feeling like myself, and not using up all my spoons All I can say is, if you’re questioning whether you need one, you do. It’s just a matter of which one! I wish I’d looked sooner, but I’m just grateful I found what works for me now And I hope you do too, because you deserve to feel your most fabulous 🎀 #pheovsfabulous #rollator #byacre #babewithamobilityaid #cancerthriver #thyroidcancer #pheochromocytoma #dysautonomia #mcas #selflove #disabilityawareness #disabledandcute #chronicallyfabulous #raredisease #cancerawareness #selfadvocate

Meet @fatpheebs ✨ They navigate life as a young person with fibromyalgia, an invisible disability, and know all too well the difficulties that come with this. They also know how important it is to have a walking stick they can not only rely on, but also makes them feel good! We think Pheebs’ closing point is spot on - do you agree? To celebrate hitting 75k & POTS awareness day I’ve teamed up with byACRE to give one lucky winner this dreamy nordic pioneer walker in glacier green!  A walker was one of the first mobility aids that really helped me with my POTS symptoms. It gives me support when I’m tired or breathless and means I always have a place to sit down when I’m out and about! I love my Nordic Pioneer from byACRE because it’s super lightweight, it’s made form eco-friendly materials and it’s amazing at covering different terrain with fab manouvrebility. The large, low friction tyre are the best I’ve experienced on a walker for a smooth and comfortable journey. I’m so excited to be giving one of these away in beautiful glacier green to celebrate dysautonomia awareness month. 🎤 BREAKING: Whilst the Gov may have backed off cutting PIP to current claimants, they’re still planning to overhaul support for new applicants in 2026. So yes, this song is part protest, part parody, but mostly rage. 💥 💬 What’s the wildest thing you’ve had to “prove” to access support? Or what unbelievable assessment stories have you got? Drop them below - then we can turn the comments section into a letter we can send to government, full of REAL stories from REAL people, because quite frankly, you wouldn’t believe some of the shit I’ve witnessed myself and to people I know - They lie. They exaggerate. They look for any little thing they can ‘get you’ on. It’s fucking disgusting. I’ll write my experiences in the comments too 🌸💚 Ps I do gots some songs coming up about fannys and fringes and edibles and sharks and pigeons and all kinds of weird shit, just got a bit of advocacy to do too first 😉 👌🏻 #LolaYoung #DisabledLife #ChronicIllnessWarrior #Messy #ChronicIllnessAwareness #PWME #MECFS #CFSME #PMDD #UKPolitics #DisabilityRights #DisabilityAdvocate #BabeWithAMobilityAid #ChronicallyAwesome #ChronicallyFabulous #SpoonieSisters #Spoonie #InvisibleIllnessAwareness #InvisibleIllness #SpoonieCommunity #Benefits #PIP

I would love just to be stuck by yourside, Pip! This week Piper turns five! Can you believe it??! I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side! Piper has been stuck by my side through it all and this was his first time seeing me walk in years! Piper is my medical alert and mobility service dog, trained exactly for what I need to mitigate my disabilities by @miservicedogs . Now Piper will always prefer a roll to a walk because I can go much faster, my health is more stable, and I am WAY more fun. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t over the moon seeing me take a few steps! Piper was one of the first beings on this planet to know I wasn’t breathing on my own. He has been by my side through getting my diaphragm pacemaker, learning to live with it, hiking Arizona and surfing the east coast, alerting to my hypokalemic periodic paralysis, having my ROHHAD come for me, in and out of the ICU, adjusting to me being a 100% non-ambulatory wheelchair user, always learning new tasks to mitigate my health, and now seeing me start to take my first few steps! I don’t know what I would do without you Pip!
