THMy personal favorite Bruce Wayne scene ever put to film…it’s not of him buying a building, driving a fast car or stopping a villain.
I talk a lot about the true virtue and heart of Bruce Wayne I don’t believe I seen enough on social media and I believe this scene encapsulates so much of it with a single glance and a single line. “ I hope so”
We all know Batman is a very stoic character. He takes the hits no one else can, he takes the blame for others when it serves a bigger purpose and he cares more for people by his actions then his words. He very rarely allows his guard to go down.
What I love about this scene is for this Batman who has went down the darkest path he could have imagined, believing he failed his promise to the world and his parents we see his journey to try and make up for his past sins, but also not believing fully he deserves redemption.
So when we see a new alien, one he doesn’t know and one not to long ago he would have automatically seen as a threat tell Bruce “your mother and father would be proud” Afflecks subtle look down where he closes his eyes and says “I hope so” you can tell through all his fierce exterior, that meant the world to him delivered with a look right back up of a small glint of proudness in his eyes.
