Cycle syncing isn’t just about tracking your period or changing what you eat, it’s body literacy.
It’s self-awareness in motion. It’s learning to understand your rhythm, when your energy expands, when your intuition peaks, and when your body needs to slow down. If you’re ready to start tuning in to your own body and noticing your unique patterns, follow along.

I was recently a guest on the Beyond Longevity Podcast and as you’ll hear in the clip - this topic is something I keep coming back to. Women’s symptoms are still too often dismissed. Migraines, brain fog, bloating, skin changes, irregular cycles. But these aren’t inconveniences. They’re signals. Your body communicating that something has shifted. Body literacy is one of the most practical tools we have in midlife health. It starts with paying attention and being taken seriously when you do. I am sorry - but women do need to stand up and say no to being medically gas lit. So the more evidence you have about your health the better. And this is what will empower and liberate you. You can put yourself back in the drivers seat of your own health. Full conversation linked in bio. Worth a listen. What symptoms have you learned to stop ignoring?

Meet Melanie Murphy Richter, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who serves on the Board of Scientific Advisors of Tera, a nutrition technology company developing AI-powered tools for personalized dietary guidance. In this clip, Melanie addresses a surprising yet fundamental issue: the lack of body literacy. In a world where many don’t recognize what good energy feels like, or even know what a healthy bowel movement looks like, how can we expect people to make empowered health decisions? Our disconnection from the body makes personalized nutrition harder to access and even harder to act on. Before tools like Tera can truly help, we need to understand what our bodies are telling us. How in tune are you with your own body’s signals?

The deets 👇🏼 Heres why I never recommend natural cycles for preventing pregnancy. 1. it predicts fertility windows BIG RED FLAG for any app. It uses an algorithm to predict your fertile days rather than teaching you to identify them in real time. The symptothermal method trains you to read your own cervical mucus and temps to confirm ovulation - much more accurate than predictions. 2. doesn't teach body literacy you're relying on the apps algorithm not your own knowledge. With the symptothermal method you gain skills you'll have for life not just one app. 3. Temperatures only natural cycles uses BBT data which can be effected by sleep, illness, alcohol, travel etc. The symptothermal method uses multiple cross checks such as cervical mucus, temp, LH tests, and cervical position for greater reliability. 4. FDA approved doenst mean risk free NC is approved as birth control but that doenst guarantee effectiveness to a well learned symptothermal method. It really has a higher risk of surprise pregnancy, false sense of security, can mislead beginners, data privacy concerns, no adaptability for health issues like irregular cycles, PCOS, postpartum shifts, thyroid issues etc, and dependency on the apps algorithm- if you stop paying you lose access to your fertility knowledge. The tracking thermometer and app I recommend is tempdrop. You don't have predictions, you don't have to wake up at the same time every day, filters disturbances, app doenst require premium to track BBT, and takes into consideration all biomarkers not just BBT. Great for preventing, trying to conceive and for postpartum! Comment "TEMP" to an additional 15% off the sale that starts 9/25 which makes your savings 30% off!

Do you think periods really sync up when you spend a lot of time with someone? 👯‍♀️ Before you scroll: share this, tag your bestie, and follow @legendairywomen for more cycle talk and body literacy. 👀 See our stories for a special gift with purchase today!! Do you think periods really sync up when you spend a lot of time with someone? Or is that just one of those things we all believe because it feels so real? Spoiler alert: scientists say there’s not enough solid evidence to prove menstrual syncing is real. The idea came from a 1971 study, but more recent research using period-tracking apps shows most cycles actually move further apart over time, not closer. So what’s actually going on? Since cycles can range from 28 to 35 days, and periods last several days, the odds of overlapping with someone else are pretty high. That overlap feels like syncing, but it’s often just timing. This is called cycle convergence, and it explains why your period might line up with someone for a while, then shift again without warning. Still, so many of us have had that “wait… are our periods synced up now?” moment. Whether or not the science backs it up, the experience is super common. So what do you think? Coincidence, intuition, or something more? 💬 Tell us in the comments. And don’t forget to follow @legendairywomen for more cycle literacy, hormone health, and info about allllll the women’s health topics you should have been talking about in school.

I used to be cool… now I say things like: 💩 ‘Was that a type 4 on the Bristol stool chart?’ 🥩 ‘How much protein should I pack for this trip?’ 🎧 ‘Should I bring my Loop earplugs to the concert?’ 🌿 ‘Don’t forget the bitters for that heavy meal!’ Once upon a time, I ignored every symptom my body was screaming at me. ❌ I brushed off the bloating. ❌ Normalized the brain fog. ❌ Laughed about the “IBS life.” ❌ And thought being constantly tired was just part of adulthood. But the truth is—I wasn’t lazy, dramatic, or broken. I was just disconnected from my body. No one ever taught me how to listen to it. Today, I don’t just care about my health—I advocate for it. Body literacy changed my life. Understanding the signs and symptoms, tuning into the signals, and finally trusting my body has been the greatest gift. Now? ✅ I empower women to do the same. ✅ To stop dismissing their symptoms. ✅ To stop outsourcing their intuition. ✅ And to start reclaiming their health—one bowel movement, protein-packed snack, and well-supported nervous system at a time 💪🏽✨ This is what real wellness looks like! #BodyLiteracy #GutHealthMatters #MetabolicHealth #IBSRecovery #ListenToYourBody #SouthAsianWellness #FunctionalHealth #HolisticHealing #WomensHealthMatters #DigestiveHealth #HormoneHealing #IBSWarrior #BloatingRelief #EmpoweredHealth #HealthyGutHappyLife #RootCauseMedicine #FoodAsMedicine #CalmYourGut #BloodSugarBalance #CycleSyncing #HealthOverHustle #HealingIsNotLinear #HealthEducator #NervousSystemSupport #IBSAwareness #FunctionalNutrition #GutHealingJourney #SpoonieSupport #WomenWithIBS #NoMoreBandAidSolutions

There’s knowing your body parts and then there’s body literacy. It turns out, both are key to health and safety. If knowing your body parts is like having a map, being body literate is like being able to read a compass. We’re joined on the podcast by Konika Ray Wong @girlpowerscience a health educator and author of body books for kids down to age 4. She covers concepts like interoception and attunement  (yes, big words!), central concepts for people who want to understand their body’s cues.

When the world feels loud, uncertain and dysregulated, the body often absorbs it first, long before the mind has language for it. ✨ Blood sugar swings can feel like anxiety. Under-eating can look like burnout. Cravings can be a call for safety and stability, not a lack of self-control. ✨ Body literacy isn’t about optimization, discipline or doing things “perfectly.” It’s about learning how to feed yourself in a way that creates steadiness— physically, hormonally, and emotionally. ✨ In times of chronic stress, nourishment becomes information. Food tells the body whether it’s safe enough to rest, focus, and recover. ✨ Fueling yourself consistently is not indulgent, it’s a form of resilience. And right now, that kind of care matters more than ever. ✨ In health ’n Mellness, xo
