CLyou’ve probably seen all the hype around @getbrick & I’ll be honest when I say - I totally didn’t believe how effective it would be (as a girl who was failed at screen-time limits for YEARS) but I’ve been using it every day for 2 weeks & let me tell you - 2026 is gonna be the year of peaceful & present mornings thanks to this little box.
I love doing phone breaks and logging how many hours I can go social media-free on a sunday but what I am OBSESSED WITH is the schedule feature. in my Brick app, I have a scheduled “personal time” where my work apps, all social media, and emails are bricked from 8:30pm to 6:30am. if your apps are bricked, the only way to open them is to scan your physical brick device which I keep in a drawer at home. So when I get out of bed at 5am and get my phone across the room, I never start my day accidentally seeing a work email or opening Instagram on the toilet and then realizing 15 minutes have gone by and now I’m behind (ik it’s not just me), I can’t look at anything until I’m back from my run most days which is such a better way to start the day.
Before brick, I was pretty good at never having my phone in bed or being on socials first thing but anytime I accidentally saw a notification - email, Instagram message, tiktok comment - I would either think about it all day or press on it and end up spiraling & now I don’t even have the option to get those notations until about 2 hours later.
