__1. You don’t “solve problems” all day.
A large part of consulting is framing, aligning stakeholders, and iterating decks.
2. Your first year is about learning how to think, not being brilliant.
You are expected to learn fast, take feedback, and execute.
3. PowerPoint and Excel consists of 70-80% of your work (may vary based on projects).
Clear storylines, logical slides, and clean numbers > fancy frameworks.
4. Long hours aren’t constant - but unpredictability is.
It’s not all late nights, but every case has a few phases of burning the midnight oil at times. Be okay with travelling at short notices and staying in hotels for majority of the week!
5. Client management is a real skill.
Reading the room, managing egos, and influencing without authority matter as much as analysis.
6. Specialisation comes later.
Your first 1-2 years are broad and messy. Infact you are encouraged to try out different sectors before you build expertise.
7. The learning curve is steep, but so is the exit optionality.
Strategy, leadership roles, startups, corporate roles: this is where consulting really pays off.
8. Consulting rewards stamina and clarity, not just intelligence.
The people who do best aren’t the smartest- they’re consistent, coachable, and calm under pressure.

JUWorking at PwC was tough but I’m tougher cuh 🎀 So many late nights, many hours of lost sleep, but it was fun while it lasted.
The thinkpad laptop gives me the ick now 😂
