1 tbsp olive oil or butter
1 onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp cumin
Salt & pepper to taste
1 can tomato sauce (15 oz)
1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
1 cup beef broth
1 can kidney beans, drained

Ingredients:
• 2 lb ground beef
• 1 tbsp oil
• 1 medium onion, diced
• 1 green bell pepper, diced
• 4 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tbsp tomato paste
• 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
• 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
• 1 (15 oz) can red kidney beans, drained
• 2 cups beef broth (add more if you like it juicier)
• 1 tbsp chili powder
• 1 tbsp smoked paprika
• 2 tsp cumin
• 1 tsp onion powder
• 1 tsp garlic powder
• 1 tbsp complete seasoning
• Salt & black pepper to taste
• 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
• 1 tbsp butter (optional for richness)

• Shredded cheddar cheese
• Sour cream
• Green onions or cilantro (optional)

Instructions
1. Brown the Beef:
Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add beef, season lightly with salt, pepper, and a little of the dry seasonings. Brown well, then remove from the pot and set aside.
2. Sauté Veggies:
In the same pot, add onions, bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes to pick up all the flavor from the meat.
3. Build the Base:
Add beef back into the pot. Stir in tomato paste and let it brown for about 1 minute.
4. Add Sauce & Beans:
Pour in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and red kidney beans. Add the remaining seasonings and butter (if using).
5. Add Broth & Simmer:
Pour in beef broth (start with 2 cups; add more if you want extra gravy). Stir well, cover, and let simmer 45–60 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust salt or sweetness with a touch of brown sugar if needed.
6. Finish:
Serve hot, topped with melted cheese and a spoonful of sour cream, jalapeño peppers for some heat.

COIf you’ve ever had doubts about whether chillies can thrive in containers.. I planted this chilli plant in a 35cm~ diameter pot, and it gave me 100+ fruits in a single growing season last summer! As long as you give it a good amount of sunshine (especially in a cooler climate like Melbourne), nutrients and water, it’ll happily live on in a pot! 🌶️

GOCrispy chilli oil! Have you ever tried this? We absolutely love topping our dishes with it, and it goes with almost everything! Keep an eye out for our next post where we’ll share some ideas on how to use it 😍
INGREDIENTS
1 shallot, sliced
4 garlic cloves, sliced
800ml vegetable oil
30g chilli flakes
60g Korean chilli flakes
1 star anise
1 tsp smoked paprika
50g crispy shallots
2 tbsp sesame seeds
1 tbsp MSG
1 tbsp salt
200g roasted peanuts, crushed
METHOD
1. In a saucepan, heat the oil on a medium-low heat then add the garlic and shallot and fry until golden brown.
2. In a large bowl, mix the chilli flakes, star anise, smoked paprika, crispy shallots, sesame seeds, MSG and salt.
3. Pour the hot oil along with the garlic and shallot over the top and give it a stir.
4. Allow to cool before adding the roasted peanuts and removing the star anise. Carefully pour into a well-sealed and sterilised jar. Enjoy!
