The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope’s summer intern, Laine Havens, takes you through the gowning process to go inside one of the largest clean rooms in the world!
Why is it essential to “clean up” before entering the Space Systems Development and Integration Facility? It’s important to ensure that instruments and hardware aren’t contaminated with our humanness, like a strand of hair, oil from our fingertips, and even the lingering scent of deodorant. This extra step ensures the safety of the spacecraft and everything on board!
