The research 👇 A small but compelling clinical study followed women with Hashimoto’s-related subclinical hypothyroidism who weren’t taking thyroid medication. They added just 50 mL of aloe vera juice daily for 9 months. Here’s what shifted on average: ✨ TPO antibodies decreased significantly ✨ TSH dropped ✨ Free T4 increased Meanwhile, the control group saw little to no meaningful change. Is it a massive, flawless study? No. Is it interesting? Absolutely. Because it reinforces that you absolutely CAN lower thyroid antibodies through certain strategies. 🚨BREAKING: YOU DON’T NEED THIS 💩 Let’s unpack WHY w/ this quick ingredient & research review of MTN OPS Gentle Digestive Cleanse: 🛑Senna is a plant used in stimulant laxatives; cascara sagrada is also a stimulant laxative, but it’s no longer used in OTC since 2002 b/c the FDA didn’t find enough research to deem it safe & effective for constipation relief... (🚩🚩🚩) Plants that are also great for relieving constipation = PRODUCE. 🛑Psyllium husk = soluble fiber found in plants & fuels friendly bacteria in your gut (probiotics). It’s also used in powdered, isolated form as an osmotic laxative (I’ll share recs via story/highlight). Your best bet for getting more of it, consistently: Produce. 🛑Marshmallow & dandelion roots have promise for supporting urinary & GI tract health, but there’s not enough evidence to support using either in a supplement. Meanwhile, the benefits of eating produce = studied for decades (hence, “5 servings of produce / day.”) 🛑Plant roots add bulk (see also: VEGETABLES); dried & ground plants (ginger, garlic) add flavor (see also: HERBS & SPICES) 🛑 Dietary supplements aren’t evaluated by the FDA, which in plain English means that ingredients may: (1) not be used in the right dose/form; (2) haven’t been studied enough (in HUMANS) to deem safe or effective; (3) may be both safe & effective—but w/out 3rd-party testing & verification, there’s no guarantee you’re actually getting what’s promised; (4) “safe” in research, but less so in the realities of a product’s supply chain. BOTTOM LINE: Best case scenario w/ a supplement like this? Nothing happens, save for a 💩 & flushing $30 down the toilet. Worst case: EXTREME GI & urinary losses ➡️ dangerously low potassium levels in your blood (a side effect of which is cardiac arrest), & acute liver injury… If you have a functioning liver, kidneys & GI tract, your body is ALREADY detoxing. The study 👇 🌿In a small (but fascinating) study, researchers followed 30 women with Hashimoto’s-related subclinical hypothyroidism who were not on thyroid meds. 🌿They took 50 ml aloe vera juice daily for 9 months, and on average they saw TPO antibodies drop ~56%, TSH drop ~61%, and free T4 rise ~23%. A matched control group (15 women) did not see meaningful changes.
