ULA has announced that the launch of the Amazon Leo 5 satellites is delayed due to our forecasted inclement weather. Fortunately, both the Atlas V rocket and the spacecraft remain safely secured and healthy on the pad. The new launch date is currently pending range approvals. Interestingly, ULA is also working to deconflict their new window with NASA’s highly anticipated Artemis II mission. We will keep you posted as soon as the Eastern Range confirms the new liftoff time!

NASA’s crawler-transporter — first introduced in the 1960s for the Apollo program — is still actively moving rockets today. In this timelapse, the Artemis II Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft are seen rolling back to the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) at Kennedy Space Center atop the same tracked platform design that once carried Saturn V missions to the Moon. The crawler-transporter is one of the largest self-powered land vehicles ever built. It moves at roughly 1–2 mph while carrying the fully stacked SLS, distributing thousands of tons across its massive tracked assemblies along the crawlerway between Launch Pad 39B and the VAB. This rollback is a standard operational procedure, typically conducted for inspections, weather precautions, or pre-launch adjustments. In the accompanying update, NASA confirms adjustments to the Artemis mission timeline. Artemis III is now targeted for 2027 and will focus on low Earth orbit systems testing, including potential rendezvous and docking demonstrations with commercial lunar landers from SpaceX and Blue Origin. Artemis IV is projected for 2028, while Artemis II remains unchanged. Transporting the Artemis II rocket back to the Vehicle Assembly Building is a massive operation that shows just how huge modern space hardware really is. The rocket for Artemis II is part of NASA’s Space Launch System, the most powerful rocket the agency has ever built. To move something this large, NASA uses the legendary Crawler-Transporter. This giant machine slowly carries the rocket on a mobile launch platform between the launch pad and the VAB at only about 1 mph. The crawler alone weighs thousands of tons and is designed to keep the rocket perfectly stable during the trip. Every movement is carefully planned with teams monitoring structural loads, wind conditions, and alignment throughout the journey. It’s slow, precise, and absolutely critical — because moving a rocket this powerful safely is just as important as launching it. 📸: @nasa & @nasaartemis #ArtemisII #NASA #SpaceLaunchSystem #RocketScience #SpaceExploration 🚀

After 11 hours of careful rollout, the Artemis I mission’s SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft have finally arrived at Launch Pad 39B 🚀 A powerful moment marking the next step in humanity’s return to deep space. Standing tall against the sky, this launch system represents years of engineering, testing, and global collaboration. Now, teams are preparing for final checks ahead of liftoff, when four astronauts will begin their journey around the Moon as early as Wednesday, April 1. The launch window extends through April 6, with another opportunity on April 30. Every system is being reviewed to ensure a safe and historic mission that will pave the way for sustained lunar exploration. The Space Launch System (SLS) is currently the most powerful rocket ever built, capable of producing over 8.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff. Combined with the Orion spacecraft, designed for deep-space missions, it can carry astronauts farther than ever before. Looking ahead, Artemis missions aim to establish a long-term human presence on the Moon, test new technologies, and prepare for future journeys to Mars. 🌕 Follow us @cosmostuff_space

Moving NASA’s enormous Artemis-2 Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft out to pad 39B to launch 4 astronauts around the moon. The Crawler Transporter moving the vehicle here is the size of a baseball infield and weighs 6.6 million pounds by itself. It was originally built in 1965 to carry Saturn V Apollo rockets, then used for space shuttles. Artemis-2 launch is scheduled for April 1 at 6:24pm eastern. #news #space #NASA #Artemis #exploration

This morning at 11:21 a.m. EDT, NASA’s Artemis II SLS rocket and Orion spacecraft arrived at LC-39B after an 11-hour journey from the Vehicle Assembly Building. My camera captured crawler-transporter 2 lifting and carrying SLS out of the VAB. Liftoff is set as early as April 1st, at 6:24 p.m. EDT, with the launch window running through April 6th. You’re looking at the most powerful rocket ever built. 🚀 This is the Artemis II SLS (Space Launch System). It is currently sitting on a 6.6-million-pound crawler. Moving at a top speed of just 1 mph. It’s heading to Pad 39B for a 2026 launch. This mission isn't just a test flight. It will carry 4 humans around the Moon. The first time since Apollo 17 in 1972. The orange core stage holds 733,000 gallons of fuel. Providing 8.8 million pounds of maximum thrust. Unlike Apollo, Artemis is designed for staying. This rocket is the first step toward Mars. It’s the bridge between history and the future. Video credit: @"bc_hancock" Save this if you love learning things like this. Share this with someone who would find this fascinating.
