HE⬇️Things we changed when we moved to Europe from the USA ⬇️
- walking and biking nearly everywhere
- using a 24 hour clock
- indulging in all the foods but having better portions
- take my shoes off in the house
- buy more fresh groceries and grocery shop most day
- own a kettle
- own way less clothing/material things in general
- go out in the city centers more
- more time outdoors
- discuss the weather
I want to make it crystal clear that I LOVE both the USA and Europe. I think there are pros and cons to both and I like living in both. And fun fact: we are back in the states but trying to bring those healthy habits wit us. I also did a 4 month training plan to walk long distances! DRNine months ago, I left England and moved to the GCC.
It has been a journey…some days full of gratitude, other days full of longing. I do miss England at times. It’s home, and that never really leaves you.
But one thing I hadn’t fully realised until I stepped away was how heavy the constant negativity can feel.
The morning debates about whether doctors deserve fair pay.
The background stress of drugs and alcohol, how normalised it has become, and how often it quietly harms the physical and mental health of people we love.
The reminders through talk shows and breakfast television that immigrants are not welcome not wanted and “should go home”.
It isn’t perfect here, not at all. Every place has its flaws, its frustrations, its compromises.
But sometimes what you need most is distance.
A pause.
A different perspective.
And for now, I’m grateful for the respite… and for the opportunity to navigate a new set of trials. #Gcc #saudiarabia #uk #expat

THMoving back didn’t mean I failed...it meant I finally listened to what I needed. For a long time, I thought returning to the UK would feel like admitting defeat, like I couldn’t handle the life I built overseas. Like coming back to the UK meant having to face “the real world” again.
But the truth is, sometimes the hardest choice isn’t leaving, it’s coming home. It’s allowing yourself to outgrow a version of your life that no longer fits, even if it once made you happy.
I didn’t come back because I gave up; I came back because I wanted peace, connection, and a slower rhythm that felt like me again.
And somewhere between the familiarity of grey skies and the comfort of small things like tea in my favourite mug, hearing accents that sound like mine, I realised that coming home was never a step backward. It was the beginning of feeling whole again!!
But honestly? Best decision I’ve made!!❤️🔥❤️🔥
