First reaction — weird or clever? The first time I saw this girth I honestly thought… what on earth is that? It doesn’t look like a normal girth. It isn’t shaped like a normal girth. And compared to a standard leather girth, it’s definitely… different. So yes — the first reaction most people have is that it looks a bit weird. But the design actually makes a lot of sense when you think about how horses move. A horse’s ribcage expands and contracts with every breath. Their shoulders rotate. Their whole body shifts and flexes with every stride. Yet most girths are essentially rigid straps trying to hold everything in one place. The Advantage Girth was designed to work differently. Instead of resisting that movement, it has an eight-way flex design that allows the girth to move with the horse as they breathe and move. I’ll be honest — I didn’t fully buy into the concept until I tried it either. But when you ride a lot of miles, especially in endurance where horses are working for hours at a time, you start to pay attention to the little things that might help your horse stay comfortable. And sometimes the things that look unusual are the things that have had the most thought put into them. They’re not cheap — and I completely understand why that puts some people off. But there is a trial option, which means you can actually try one with your horse before deciding if it works for you. For me, it’s one of those pieces of kit where the design might look unusual at first… but once you understand the reasoning behind it, it starts to make a lot more sense. Weird? Maybe. Smart? I think so. If you’re curious to learn more, the Advantage Girth is made by @jeremyrudgesaddlery, who are always happy to talk through how the design works and whether it might suit your horse. https://jeremyrudgesaddlery.co.uk/products/girths/advantage-girth/

Often thought to be the kindest bits - These straight rubber/synthetic mouthpieces can be quite problematic! HERE’S WHY: ▪️They are usually too thick. The average horse can accommodate a bit approx, 13mm thick. Only a few outliers can comfortably accommodate bits larger than 17mm. Most rubber bits are over 20mm in diameter! 📏 ▪️ They can chafe and dry out the mouth. 👄 ▪️They are often rigid (seen in the video) which can lead to a dull or heavy feeling in the contact, depending on the sensitivity level of the horse. 💪🏻 ▪️They can easily be damaged (see teeth marks on the left of the bit at the end of the video) which can cause rough/sharp points that can harm the horse. This can also become a safety issue. ⚠️ ▪️Some types are more porous which harbor bacteria and can be very difficult to clean. 🦠 HOWEVER: This being said, I don’t hate synthetic bits!❕ There are newer models being made that alleviate most of the concerns above - and some horses really appreciate the mouth feel, slight give, and pressure distribution. I keep some in my inventory in every size for this very reason. The Sprenger Duo is my personal favorite ❤️ Every horse must be evaluated as an individual. 1. Buckles done up too high ⬆️ When the buckles on a bridle are done up too high, they can cause real discomfort around some cruicial areas of a horse’s head. The TMJ sits just in front of the ear, when a buckle is sitting on this joint, it can: 👉 Compress soft tissue over the joint 👉 Restrict the normal sliding motion of the jaw 👉 Cause soreness & inflammation How to get the correct buckle height: All of the headpiece buckles should sit around eye level on the horse. You may need to combine a mix of sizes to get the correct fit. 2. Noseband too high or too low ⬇️ We see a lot of nosebands set too high or too low. When a noseband is set at the wrong height, many factors are impacted. 👉 Unnecessary facial nerve pressure 👉 Bit interference 👉 Sitting on bones, creating pressure points 👉 Restricted airflow How to fit a noseband correctly: A noseband should sit 2 fingers under the cheekbone, and at least 2 fingers should fit comfortably between the noseband and the horses nose. 3. Browband too tight ❌ A browband that is too tight affects the entire fit of the bridle, not just the forehead area. 👉 Pulls headpiece forward into the ears 👉 Pressure on sensitive ear nerves and cartilage 👉 Pinching and rubbing 👉 Increased pressure over the poll 👉 Influencing tension in the poll, through the neck and over the back 👉 Makes relaxation harder How to make sure a browband is fitting: You should be able to comfortably fit at least 2 fingers under your browband without pulling it forward. 👍🏼 It’s so important to have a correctly fitting bridle, to promote comfort and wellness, allow clear communication and freedom of movement. This is why we created our custom bridle builder. Mix & match styles and sizes to create your perfect fitting bridle! 👌🏼😍

Why are there so many different double-jointed bits? 🤔💬 Because no horse is exactly the same! 🐴❤️ Tongue shape, jaw width, palate height… every horse’s anatomy is unique. 🔍 And of course, temperament plays a big role too. 👉 Double-jointed bits feature two joints and a central link. When the reins are applied, the pressure is distributed more evenly across the tongue – something many sensitive horses find especially comfortable. 🌟 Over the next few days, we’ll show you the differences between the various double-jointed designs – and help you find the right one for your horse. 🐴 #equestrian #horseriding #bitfitting #doublejointedbit

What Is the Morph Mouthpiece? The Morph is a shape-and-reshape mouthpiece built around a flexible internal metal wire core. Unlike fixed anatomical bits, the Morph can be manually adjusted to better follow the individual contours of a horse’s mouth. How It Works🤔 Inside the mouthpiece: • A malleable metal wire core provides structure • The outer material (rubber, TPU, or leather covering) maintains comfort • The rider can gently reshape the curve before use Once adjusted✋: • The wire holds its position • The mouthpiece maintains the customized contour • Contact becomes more individualized Why That Matters No two horses have identical: • Tongue thickness • Bar sensitivity • Palate height • Mouth width Traditional bits are fixed. The Morph allows: • Subtle adjustments to increase or reduce tongue relief • A slightly narrower or broader curve • More even pressure distribution It turns a standard bit into something semi-custom. Important Clarification ⚠️ The wire: • Provides structural memory • Is designed for controlled adjustment • Should NOT be repeatedly over-bent It allows thoughtful customization — not constant reshaping. In Simple Terms The Morph is: A customizable anatomical mouthpiece with a shape-holding internal core that allows the rider to fine-tune the fit before riding.

Why do we keep buying old tie-ups and attachments when they don’t meet our horses’ needs? Because they’re familiar. Because they’re cheap. Because “that’s what we’ve always used.” But familiarity does not equal safety. Many traditional tie-ups were never designed around equine behaviour, panic responses or welfare. They were adapted from hardware, transport or agricultural use and repurposed for horses without proper testing. Chains are too strong, heavy and noisy, escalating stress and transmitting full force to the horse. Panic hooks jam under load and rely on human reaction in moments when milliseconds matter. Bungee ties recoil, vary wildly in force and are fitted with metal attachments that fail unpredictably. Lead ropes with knots tighten, jam and load the poll, while clips snap or become sharp. Trailer ties lengthen under pressure, buckle, rust and introduce loops, metal adjusters and multiple failure points. Standard "Fish-hook" carabiners were never designed for dynamic equine loads and can deform, puncture or cut. Baling twine breaks inconsistently often at high loads, is fiddly to reattach and leaves horses anticipating failure rather than relaxing. None of these systems manage force in a controlled, repeatable way. None prioritise automatic, predictable release. Most increase risk during exactly the situations they are meant to protect against. Horses don’t need stronger restraint. They need smarter restraint. If a tie-up depends on luck, human speed or “hopefully it breaks”, it isn’t meeting your horse’s needs. Safety shouldn’t be traditional. It should be designed. #Equimade #Equestrian #horse #horses #horsewelfare #equinesafety #stablemanagement #horsecare

Which bit should you reach for if you find your hanging cheek isn’t quite enough? 🤔🐴 Many riders jump straight to a pelham because of the similarities in appearance but for a lot of horses that can be too big of a step. Instead, try our Eggbutt Loop Ring Bit. It offers extra control without over-bitting. ✔️ Adds extra poll pressure for improved control ✔️ Fixed eggbutt cheek keeps the bit still in the mouth ✔️ Ideal for horses that don’t like lots of movement in the mouth ✔️ Loop rings secure the cheekpiece and rein to create a subtle action

THE MODERN ANSWER TO EVERY OLD TIE UP PROBLEM [horse first thinking] [modern tie ups] [welfare for performance] Every traditional tie up has the same underlying flaw. They were designed decades ago for control, not for welfare and not for emergency situations. Strength was prioritised over safety. Metal over softness. Force over understanding. The result is equipment that creates more risk, not less when a horse panics. EasyConnect and EasyConnect TieFlex were built to fix every one of these problems with design that responds to the horse rather than fights against it. What EasyConnect eliminates • No heavy chains • No extreme strength ties that hold until the horse gets hurt • No bungee cords that recoil • No sharp buckles or exposed metal edges • No clips that are difficult to open even in calm situations • No panic hooks that lock under pressure • No fishhook carabiners that cut and puncture • No stretching spiral cables • No unnecessary weight on neck muscles • No unsafe knots that lock under pressure, safety loops or twines that don't break What EasyConnect provides instead • Lightweight design that reduces fear right from the first moment • Quiet materials to create calm • Automatic 90 kg release that protects the horse at the exact moment needed • Manual 1 kg release allowing easy and safe distance intervention • Soft contact points • Consistent predictable function that builds trust • Safer tie ups, safer handlers, safer horses Modern welfare relies on modern equipment. When you remove outdated hardware and replace it with tools designed around the horse’s natural behaviour everything changes. Stress drops. Risk drops. Performance improves. And daily work becomes calmer faster and easier for everyone involved. Choose the system that acts the moment it matters. Choose EasyConnect. #Equimade #EasyConnect #EasyConnectTieFlex #ModernTieUps #HorseSafety #WelfareForPerformance #Horses #Horse
