How I made international friends as Japanese🌍 A lot of people ask me “How do you actually make foreign friends?” Here’s what really worked for me 👇 ・Calling people on Maum & HelloTalk ・Joining sports meetups (running, yoga, dance, etc.) ・Going to “English Only Cafe” ・Studying abroad ・Becoming a Japanese/English teacher -> you’ll have international students and friends ;) ・Just talking to people on the street 🫶🏻 ・Sending DMs on Instagram My sister made international friends on discord, searching for some language exchange communities 💭✨ It’s not about being fluent. It’s about being open, curious, and kind. You don’t need perfect Japanese. You just need courage 🤍 Plus, if you wanna make Japanese friends, join my workshop in Tokyo 🩵🫧 #japanese #nihongo #tokyo #fyp

Making friends abroad is SO important! They’re the people who become your family and make your new country truly feel like home. 💫 I say “Spain/Sevilla” because that’s where I experienced everything, but truly they are interchangeable with any city/country! 📲 Social Media & Apps: Facebook groups like ‘Expats in _______ (Spain)’ or ‘______(Sevilla) Expats’ and WhatsApp groups for local events are great places to start. Once you find a Facebook group, look for events/whatsapp groups and ask to join! And don’t forget Bumble BFF! 💬 Language Exchanges: You can use websites like ‘Tandem’ or ‘Mundo Lingo’ to find partners to participate in a Language Exchange especially in bigger cities! You can also look up “Lanuage exchanges (intercambios) in ________.” It’s the perfect spot to practice Spanish (or any language) and meet both locals and expats. ⚽ Sports Groups: Look out for casual sports meetups (I know of soccer and volleyball groups in Sevilla specifically) – check out the Facebook groups for sports group meetups; they’re also common in local parks or on apps like Meetup, and they’re an easy way to make friends who share your interests. *Expat (expatriate) - an individual living and/or working in a country other than their country of citizenship

5 apps that helped me learn Russian in a few months 🇷🇺 If you are serious about learning Russian fast, you need more than just Duolingo. That app is fine for beginners, but most students stop improving because they never use tools that train real language skills. These five apps changed the game for me and helped me go from basic phrases to real conversations in months. 1. RussianPod101 This app combines listening, vocabulary, and real spoken Russian in one place. What makes it powerful is the guided audio lessons that feel like actual conversations, not random word lists. You learn how Russians talk, not just how they pronounce words. 2. Memrise (Russian Courses) Memrise uses spaced repetition and real native speaker videos so you hear how real Russians say things. It teaches you natural phrases and expressions, not textbook sentences. It’s especially useful for everyday language and slang that textbooks don’t teach. 3. Clozemaster Clozemaster puts vocabulary into real sentences so you learn how words are used in context. This is a huge step above memorizing lists. You start to see patterns and recognize how Russian sentences are built. It bridges the gap between beginner apps and actual fluency. 4. Tandem This is a language exchange app where you actually talk with native speakers. You can text, voice, or video chat with Russians learning your language. This is where your Russian becomes alive. It forces you to communicate and correct mistakes in real time. 5. HelloTalk HelloTalk is similar to Tandem, but with built-in correction tools. Native speakers can fix your messages, and you can save the corrected sentences to review later. This feedback loop is extremely effective for rapid improvement. These apps work together because they train different skills: listening, vocabulary, real conversation, and feedback. Used consistently, they fast-track your Russian far faster than just memorizing words. Here’s a key tip: don’t just open the app. Schedule short daily practice, review your errors, and try to use what you learn in real conversations or chats. Follow for more helpful tips 😊📌

Celebrating the fun of connecting through accents, languages & cultures from around the world! ✨ This time we linked up from Australia 🇦🇺 while showing love for Brazil & Colombia — from “Eu amo o Brasil!” to “¡Amo mucho Colombia!” 😄🌎 From sharing my roots — born in South Africa 🇿🇦, living in Australia 🇦🇺 — to saying my heart belongs to Brazil 🇧🇷 and Colombia 🇨🇴, every second was pure good vibes, passion, and culture pride. ✨ Being raised in Australia 🇦🇺 with a story that starts in South Africa 🇿🇦 and carries love for Latin culture 🇧🇷🇨🇴 always surprises people when they try to guess where I’m from — and I love every moment of it 😌💛 Language hits different when you realize a simple phrase can carry your whole story — where you were born, where you live now, and the cultures that inspire your heart. 🌍🤝 Moments like these remind me that language isn’t about perfection — it’s about energy, identity, and celebrating the cultures that move you. 💫 Different roots, different languages, same energy. Sharing culture like this makes the world feel smaller in the best way. ✨ #languageexchange #cultureconnection #brazilvibes #colombiavibes #australiavibes #southafricaroots #globalidentity #multilingualmoments #learninglanguages #worldconnections #celebratingcultures #accentlove #latinenergy #goodvibesonly ✨

I’ve learned 🇩🇪🇮🇹🇬🇧 to C2 entirely on my own - and yes, I practiced speaking solo too. Here’s how: 1️⃣ Use your textbook speaking tasks Do them ALL - don’t skip them because “no one is listening” or “it’s cringe to have a dialogue with myself” 2️⃣ Do presentations Pick a topic → structure your talk and prepare slides → hold a presentation. Good prep for exams, uni and work situations. 3️⃣ Record voice messages / podcasts to yourself You’ll recognize your gaps immediately and fix them faster. 4️⃣ Virtual coffee chats with fellow learners Use language exchange websites to find speaking partners. My best experience was with mylanguageexchange.com and Tandem. 5️⃣ Remember: speaking is developed NOT only during speaking When you’re studying, listening to podcasts, watching shows or reading, you’re also improving your speaking! …and if you’re learning a language on your own and need a clear roadmap + the best methods, check out the link in my bio🤍
