You’ve probably seen the recent news about the situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border. I know it can feel worrying from afar, so here’s a bit of clarity from someone on the ground.
Cambodia remains a safe country to visit. Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and many other major destinations are calm and carrying on as usual. Life here is the same as it was last week and before then. Markets are open, tourists are exploring, and locals are going about their day.
The only areas to avoid are the border provinces directly involved including Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey, and border areas in Battambang and Pursat.
So if you’ve already booked your flights, hotels, and planned your itinerary, don’t worry. Come and enjoy your trip. Cambodia is still the warm, welcoming place it has always been, and you’ll feel that warmth the moment you land. Our spirit of hospitality here hasn’t changed one bit.

CACambodians and Foreigners Join March for Peace Amid Border Tensions
PHNOM PENH – Cambodians and foreigners marched for peace under the hot afternoon sun on December 18 to show Cambodia’s spirit of peace and call for respect for the ceasefire.
Organized by the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), the event also sought to encourage full respect for the peace declaration, with the goal of achieving peace between Cambodia and Thailand.
Fighting along the Cambodia–Thailand border entered its twelfth day on December 18.
The three-kilometer march began at the night market and ended at the Independence Monument.
