KIThe sandwich generation is not for the faint of heart.
Three days ago, my dad passed away. Peacefully. And I am so deeply grateful for that kind of goodbye. But even in that gratitude, there is still so much to hold. Supporting my mom. Loving on my grandchildren. Being there for my adult kids. Showing up for my career. And quietly thinking about what my own retirement years will look like one day.
It’s this strange space of looking backward and forward at the same time. Grieving a parent while still being one. Helping raise the next generation while realizing you are becoming the older generation. It’s sacred. It’s stretching. It’s a lot.
