LEPerfect comparison of black cherry (Prunus serotina) and the non-native, often encountered mazzard cherry (Prunus avium) of Eurasia. I know I’ve compared these two before, but they’re so easy to mix up, and this side-by-side occurrence was too good to pass up, and it continues or week’s theme of “lenticels.”

REPreventive Maintenance: Been working on this property for 5 years and seeing the decline in this Norway Maple. The whole tree needs to be removed but the immediate threat needed to be addressed. I see failures like this in Norway Maples quite often and it can be disastrous when structures are taken into affect.
On another personal/professional note, Norway Maples are highly invasive. They have an acute skill at establishing in areas they do not belong and thus pose serious threats to homes and dwellings. In a short period of time they go from a tree weed into a full blown issue. Identifying these trees on your property early and removing them helps save natural areas, your neighbor’s property and your own green spaces from problems down the road.
All trees give us life but sometimes we have the wrong species in a given area.

SAOne of our Arborist found the fruity body in the pear tree and she’s concerned that the heartwood is compromised as well as the roots so we proceeded with a level three Arborist evaluation and uncovered that the root collar is compromise now we just leave it up to the owner to make a decision whether they want to leave it alone drastically reduce the crown or remove the tree completely

LINot all bare root trees are created equal. Idk friends I’m very curious to hear y’all’s input on this one. Dealing with nursery stock can be a challenge. The inventory is alive and not uniform. Each tree is shaped different and sized different and communicating that with transparency is important. I stand behind the quality of my trees but some nurseries out there do not. I’m not here to name names, I just want to highlight some of these differences for folks who may have previously had bad experiences with poor quality bare root trees. Bare root trees should have a lot of healthy roots, if someone sent you a tree with cut up roots and an overall small root mass that’s a problem. But it doesn’t mean all bare root trees are poor quality. I also want to point out that some cut roots is not an issue. Trees can heal a small amount of root damage no problem. The problem comes when a significant portion of the entire root system is removed or damaged. Honestly my example here is still pretty decent compared to some of the pictures I have seen online of what people have been sold. What do yall think?
