Stop Waiting 30 Seconds For ChatGPT To Reply Still waiting forever for ChatGPT to finish a long reply. Fix it with one Custom Instruction that forces short answers by default. Go to Settings then Custom Instructions. Paste this exactly: “Default to concise output. Answer in 3–5 bullets (max ~80 words) unless I ask for detail. If info is missing, ask ONE clarifying question; otherwise make a reasonable assumption and state it. End with a one-line takeaway. If I want more detail, I will explicitly ask: “deep dive” or “expand”. When I ask for more detail, provide a structured, longer answer.” This forces ChatGPT to default to short, bullet-style answers instead of long, essay replies, which makes responses feel much faster.
