EMMe: “I need you to get down.”
(She didn’t.)
I gave her time to choose obedience. She still didn’t.
Me: “Are you obeying or disobeying by not getting down?”
(She pouted.)
Me: “You are disobeying.”
Then I softened—
Me: “Is the look on your face happy or angry?”
Her: “Angry.”
Me: “Why are you angry?”
Her: “There’s nowhere for me to sit by myself.”
Me: “Okay, I can make room on the couch.”
Then we dealt with the heart.
Me: “Is it right or wrong to disobey when mommy says get down?”
Her: “Wrong.”
Me: “How does God want us to obey?”
Her: “All the way, right away, and with a happy heart.”
Me: “Mom is here to keep you safe. You need to obey and listen.”
Her: “Yes, mama.”
Mama, discipline isn’t always punishment.
Sometimes it’s a calm conversation, gentle truth, and a moment of grace. 💛

You can have a peaceful home.
You can have children who listen the first time.
You can correct without chaos or guilt.

Here is what I’m NOT saying:
👉 I’m NOT saying to do not get behind, support, cheer on the endeavor to “find a cause.”
✅ Christian parent, what I would caution you on is to be careful that that endeavor doesn’t become priority #1 in your life.
Here is my filter question to determine my priorities:
👉 Does it (will it) have an impact of eternity?
If yes = at the top of the list.
Your child is autistic TODAY… so what you do today will impact their eternity?
Are you spending time discipline them or prioritizing m something that will not impact their eternity?
Truth: they will stand before God one day whether or not we find a cause to autism.
God is not requiring you to solve the world’s problems… he sent his One and Only Son to accomplish that, and he did once and for all.
God is requiring two things from you Christian parent: Proclaim the gospel and saturate daily your home with gospel truths. That’s it.
So, while it’s a great endeavor to find a “cause,” and I’ll celebrate if that happens… I also believe that God ordains (plans) all things and he does all things right and good. Autism is one of those things.
You can disagree, just be kind about it. 😉

THMotherhood is a ministry. Period.
But for a long time… I didn’t believe that.
I thought I had to be more than “just” a mom. I thought I had to do more to be seen, to be significant.
Until the Lord radically changed my heart and showed me: this calling is holy. It’s eternal. And yes…there’s warfare in it.
The enemy will attack your patience.
He’ll try to harden your heart toward your kids.
He’ll whisper lies that say this work isn’t enough.
But the truth?
This is kingdom work.
And the only way to fight back is with the Word of God. Here are 3 verses I speak when I feel weary in motherhood:
Galatians 6:9 — “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Isaiah 40:11 — “He gently leads those that have young.”
(Yes, even when we’re exhausted, short-tempered, and unsure.)
2 Corinthians 12:9 — “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”
If you’re a mama in the thick of it today -
Speak life.
Stay planted.
And remember… you are raising disciples. 🤍
