HOW TO DO IT? 🤷🏽♀️
When revising content, instead of simply re-reading or rewriting your notes, do this:
1️⃣ Print off a copy of your study guide, or the learning objectives from the session 📄(often on the first page of the powerpoint presentation)
2️⃣ Convert each dot point into a question 💭
(e.g. if the dot point is ‘Understand how the folding of an enzyme influences its 3D shape and therefore it’s function’, convert it to “How does the folding of an enzyme influence it’s 3D shape and function?”)
3️⃣ Answer the question in your own words. Provide an example if you can 📝
(e.g. “The primary, secondary, tertiary and sometimes quarternary structure of an enzyme determines the 3D shape, including the shape of the enzyme’s active site. This influences the function of an enzyme as this determines which substrate the enzyme can bind to and catalyse the reaction of, as it must be specific and complementary to the shape of the substrate. If any of these structure are affected, such as in denaturation, the active site of the enzyme site may change, rendering it unable to bind to it’s substrate and becoming non-functional”)

It provides a TARGETED approach, so that you only focus on the information that you will be examined on/is on your syllabus. 🎯
And answering the questions in your own words, you will be forced to actively search your notes for the answers, improving your understanding and memory of the information. 🧠💯

Here’s what’s actually happening 👇
1️⃣ Revision forces recall. Study doesn’t.
First-time study = reading + understanding.
Revision = pulling info out of memory.
That mental struggle feels heavy — but it’s how memory strengthens.
2️⃣ Your brain hates uncertainty.
While revising, you realise:
“I don’t remember this clearly.”
That discomfort makes you want to avoid revision altogether.
3️⃣ You revise everything equally.
Your brain gets overloaded when there’s no priority.
Too many weak spots = instant fatigue.

If revision feels smooth, it’s not working.
Effort = retention.
5️⃣ You confuse revision with rereading.

HOW TO FIX IT (quickly):
• Start revision with questions, not notes

• Mark only weak points, not full chapters

STIf you’re “reading” physics but still blanking in exams…
You’re revising it wrong.
Let me show you how I’d revise it.
1️⃣ FOR UNDERSTANDING
Break the chapter into small concepts
Don’t revise “Whole Chapter: Electrostatics”
Revise:
Electric Charge and electroscope
• Coulomb’s Law
• Electric Field
• Electric Potential
• Capacitance
Your brain understands small chunks. Not whole chapters.

After every concept → solve 3–5 questions immediately
Example: Ohms Law
V= I/R
Now don’t just stare at it. Ask “WHY?” not just “WHAT?
Why does increasing resistance decrease electric current?
If you can explain it in 2–3 simple lines, you actually understand it.

2️⃣ FOR REMEMBERING
One page formula sheet
One page short notes of each chapter (mindmap)
Revise it for 30 min daily

Self quiz after each chapter
Use blurting method
Don’t solve 20 same-type questions.
Mix conceptual + numerical + assertion-reason.
This trains your brain for exam surprises.

3️⃣ FOR FINAL REVISION (Exam Mode)
Now stop learning. Start testing.
Solve past papers in timed conditions
Example:
If exam is 3 hours → Practice 3-hour paper.
No breaks. No phone.

Write correct approach
Revise this notebook one day before exam.
