Running with your legs vs running with your hips 🏃‍♂️ Could you spot the difference? A lot of runners are taught to “just put one foot in front of the other” That works… until it doesn’t. When we rely too much on quads, calves and hamstrings without good hip drive, running often feels: • Harder than it should • Heavy on the legs • Over time = sore knees, shins or calves Efficient running comes from the hips - especially hip extension and glute drive. A few simple cues to think about: 1. Knee drive Lift the knee slightly more than usual to initiate the stride 2. Midfoot strike Land under your hips, not out in front 3. Knee flexion As you push off, let the knee bend and cycle forward smoothly 4. Cadence Quick, light steps. Short ground contact. No “slapping” the ground You’re not trying to overhaul everything overnight – just nudge efficiency in the right direction. Less impact. Less wasted energy. More enjoyable running. #physio #running #runningtips

I really hate that I thought this. It breaks my heart. How ridiculous that I would be concerned with the size of my legs when I just ran a MARATHON But that’s the world we live in. Constantly seeing that skinny is better Smaller is the goal Runners should be thin I am too muscular I don’t look like a runner And yet… I run, and that’s the only thing that matters. The only qualification for being “a runner” I dreamed of the day I would have strong leg muscles I’ve worked hard for a year and a half to build back up these legs Sure our bodies look cool, but what they can do is 1000 times better #run #marathon #runner #guillainbarresyndrome #mom
