How do we make progress on disease? By solving big, moonshot scientific challenges. That’s why we created the first Chan Zuckerberg Biohub in San Francisco. Now we’re launching a new Biohub in Chicago to bring together leading research universities to build tools to measure how cells work together in human tissues and use them to gain insights into inflammation. While inflammation plays a role in healthy processes in our body, it is also a key contributor to diseases like cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s. But we don’t know what causes inflammation to go from good to bad. #CZBiohubCHI will spur collaboration between scientists and engineers at the @uchicago, @northwesternu and the @illinois1867 to create miniaturized sensors to directly measure inflammation in living tissue. By applying these tools to inflammation, researchers will uncover how inflammation impacts our cells and tissues — enabling new treatments for diseases. “If we can figure out when things go wrong early, we can do something about it early,” explains co-founder Priscilla Chan. #science #biology #SciTech #inflammation #innovation #NewResearch #CZBiohubSF #Biomedicine #SciComm #CellBiology #Health #SingleCell
