Sharing this because if there’s something you’ve always wanted to pursue, I hope I can encourage you to go for it ✨ Super proud of my performance. Was it perfect? No. But was it the best I’ve ever done in front of a live audience? Absolutely. I felt more at comfortable, and I had better control of my nerves. It was a move in the right direction from my last performance, and honestly, that’s all I could have asked for from myself. If you had asked me two years ago, when I stared taking singing lessons again, if I’d be standing on a stage, singing in front of a live audience, I would have laughed and said, AS IF lol. I’ve shared before that I was devastated after being told on national television that I had a good voice, but my image wasn’t what they were looking for and how much that moment destroyed me. I didn’t sing for years after that. I convinced myself there was no point in trying. I wasn’t going to try and make it as a professional singer, so there was no point in singing at all. Looking back, I see how ridiculous that was. Now, I sing because it brings me joy. I sing because it’s a challenge. I sing because I thrive on the process of improving and pushing myself. The rush of stepping on stage, knowing that I’m doing something I once thought impossible, is everything. Singing has taught me that I’m capable of far more than I ever imagined. We spend too much of our time focused on working, and not enough time doing what brings us joy. So if there’s something you’ve been waiting to try, I hope you take this as your sign to start now x Goes without saying, but also a huge shoutout to the best singing teacher on the planet @juliamichaels.music ❤️. Wanted to share this fun progression of me singing the same song (“Stitches” by Shawn Mendes) a little over two years apart. I started my journey of learning how to sing in April of 2020 which led to me singing for an hour a day for over one thousand days in a row and also started up singing lessons about a year and a half ago as well. Although I still have plenty more progress to make in my singing journey, it’s cool to be able to look back and compare how poorly I used to sing to how much better I can sing now showing how far I’ve already come. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to do, let this be your sign that it’s never too late to try something new and with enough commitment and dedication, you can learn anything. 🙂

But this was so freaking cool because it was the first time I ever sang in front of people foreal foreal out loud. As a vocal coach, I see this all the time in singing lessons. It’s not that you can’t sing it - it’s that your voice isn’t set up. We need to practice this one!
