Some ironic observations... If you didn't understand what he was saying, I've been there. Not yesterday tho thanks to @celimar_deafpr and @rican.with.music providing clear access to the show. I feel like I truly understood the context, excitement, culture, and meaning to each song ❤️‍🔥🤟#Superbowl #Deaf #SignLanguage #accessibility Video description: Chrissy stands in their apartment and signs with ASL to the camera. Chrissy is wearing a short sleeved white shirt with teal and red stripes, quarter buttoned down. Transcript: “The halftime show was awful, There were no English captions.” Some people have been complaining... The tables have turned. As a Deaf person, this year was great! One of my favorites! This year, not everyone understood the language being performed. Some didn’t understand the words, just enjoyed the music. That’s what Deaf people tend to do FYI. This year was unique because I see people complaining about what they missed. As a Deaf person, I watched the signed Puerto Rican dialect performance and felt I gained a deeper level of understanding to Bad Bunny’s music and culture through the interpretation. Usually its the opposite. My access to something > other peoples access. That never happens. Hopefully this discussion about captioning only leads more engagement and understanding about accessibility.

Touchscreens are supposed to be effortless right? I think they were a mistake. From unwanted interactions, to distracted driving, to inaccessibility let’s chat about how touchscreens were a mistake. As a blind person, touchscreens negatively impact me many times throughout the day from appliances to elevators and everything in-between. What’s your biggest touchscreen frustration? the beighton score only tests for hypermobility in the elbows, knees, and wrists/hands. what if i’m hypermobile in other places? 🤔 as a nationally board certified health and wellness coach that supports people through hEDS diagnostics, i get clients all the time who don’t think they’re hypermobile because they think they don’t meet the requirements for hypermobility based on the beighton scale. 📋✅ as soon as i ask about hips, ankles, and shoulders? whole different story. 🙂‍↕️ want support with the hEDS diagnostic process? i’ve got you. check out my website for a link to a free consultation!! 💛 💻 loveandlightwellnessvt.com #heds #pots #mcas #invisibleillness #accessibility

Design for Dignity: The Art of Accessible Architecture🧑‍🦽 Accessibility is more than just a legal requirement; it’s a fundamental part of inclusive design that ensures safety and independence for everyone. This project showcases the transformation from a non-compliant, dangerous slope to a professional, code-compliant ramp. By adhering to the 1:12 slope ratio, incorporating spacious landings, and installing continuous double handrails, we move beyond mere “access” to create a seamless and dignified entrance. True architecture doesn’t just look good—it works for every individual. #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign #Architecture #WheelchairRamp #adac

Why You SHOULDN’T Park Like This Video description: in this video, Spencer is in the airport parking and how someone without an accessible sticker parked halfway in Spencer’s spot and the spot next to him making it difficult for him to get inside his car. The Social Model VS The Medical Model of Disability Most of us are sadly only taught the medical model of disability from a young age. We are told that if we cannot do something it is us that are the problem as opposed to our environment, our disability is the problem and that's what needs to be fixed. But I wish more people would think about disability under the social model which shows that it's society's attitudes towards disabilities which need to change in order to make the world a more accessible place for everyone. Under the medical model when faced with these steps we are told that it's the wheelchair users fault/problem that they can't use the stairs whereas under the social model more people would realise that these steps aren't accessible for lots of different people; those with buggies or luggage, older people and people with disabilities, and that there isn't another accessible route to the top. This would mean they would recognise that there should be a ramp or a lift instead or somewhere nearby so that everyone has access. What are some easy changes that could be made if people thought more about the social model of disability? Let me know in the comments! #DisabilityEducation #DisabilityAwareness #Accessibility
